Kirabi, the Dragon of Wisdom

"Here we honor our long-suffering guardian, protector of our ancestors and tutor of the arcane: Kirabi, the Dragon of Wisdom. Wherever he is, let him rest knowing we have prospered."
— Inscription on 'Guardian of Bronze'
During the early years of Myrisian expansion, the open use of magic attracted the attention of a great many people in that part of the world. Among these was the bronze dragon Kirabi, who was intrigued by watching these people weave magic into their daily lives without much fear. When a local group of giants thought the Sages were easy prey, it was a surprise to everyone when Kirabi intervened and declared all Towers within his domain under his personal protection. There were only a few more token attempts to test this resolution, which wound up being met with swift reprisals.

After the attacks ceased, Kirabi began to work alongside the Sages to further develop their talents. A number of these developments were influenced by the dragon's love of the sea, which led to the expansion of Seawind Tor into Saltbreeze Harbor. It is recorded how Kirabi would often mingle within these settlements, assisted by taking the guise of a human trader going by "Rabin Saltspray". There are also references to there being many other guises the dragon would take, though very few of these have been recorded. All Towers which remain in the area claimed under Kirabi's protection have incorporated some symbols into their crests which represent the Dragon of Wisdom.

In the current day, it is unknown what became of Kirabi. Dragons are not known to die from old age, but after the Treaty of Helen there are no more mentions of his visits - or of his favored guises. His legacy remains, as a monument to the Dragon of Wisdom was built in Saltbreeze Harbor in a public space. Myrisians have been known to leave seashells polished and carved with runes of gratitude at the base of the plinth, which are collected by workers and stored in a cache below the monument.

Kirabi's Hoard/h2] While the lair of Kirabi was never found, there are a few things known about the dragon's habits which point to what was most valued by him. The customary offering of a seashell at the memorial statue is more in connection with Kirabi's maritime connections than anything beloved by the bronze dragon. What Kirabi collects for his hoard is gifts from those who had been under his protection, always being gracious to accept anything given as a gift. Be it a painting from a child's fingers, or an icon of a dragon in bronze with lapis waves around its feet, he was always kind and complimentary when receiving these gifts. Those who theorize about the contents of his hoard presume it would be full of these gifts, as much as it would contain treasure from his enemies.
