The 9 tail twins

During the Deo-Titan wars, the seas were plagued with monsters, ghost ships and celestial storms. Few dared to leave from the shores, fewer still dared to sail in the open ocean. It was in this time that the 9 tail twins emerged. Brother and sister sailed across the seas of Errilor, attacking every ship or creature they saw. Divine or Titan, Mortal or Ethereal, all fell before their cannons and harpoons.

Summary

Some say that vessels that braved the high seas of Errilor would suddenly find the wind sucked from their sails, and be surrounded by a thick, black fog. The Iron Yoke, a huge galleon equipped with cannon and harpoons, would slide suddenly out of a preternatural fog and pinion its victims with chains and hooks, slowly dismantling its foe. Those unfortunate enough to live through the bombardment may catch sight of Malaten, the sister, a slim tall woman, pale as the dawn but with eyes empty and black. Just before their enemy sank, the cannonfire would abruptly halt.   Whatever hope was lit by this break in the assault was quickly extinguished when the Crucia emerged from the gloom. Sleek as a knife and black as sin, the Crucia was helmed by Salacen, Melents brother. Some say he was a vampire, some say he was a Cambion, all say he was the most ruthless man to ever sail the seas. Crewed by the damned, the Crucia would pull alongside and board the hapless craft and slaughter them within moments.   When everyone was dead, the two captains would walk among the corpses and whip them with cruel cat o' nine tails, cackling and laughing, as their crews loaded their ships with the spoils.   The wreckage and the bodies would be found later, with the tell tale scores on the corpses, telling of the atrocities of the twins.

Historical Basis

Although there appears to be no basis for these tales, that has not stopped hoards of explorers searching for their treasure hoard. Indeed, some of the longer lived sailors of Errilor claim to have seen the horrifying vessels still, sliding in and out of the mists of the seas.
