War of Union - Battle of Cervilles

As part of the war of union, 4 countries were fighting each other for territory, while a unifying force was marching through the war-torn lands. Willas Lyrinth and his forces marched to Cervilles and beseiged the town as it was a crucial stepping stone on his march to Merge Water.

The Conflict

Deployment

Willas Lyrinth's forces were split into three, each attacking a different gate to the city. Initial defending forces held up at each gate, attacking from the walls and castle.

Battlefield

The battlefield consisted off the walled town of Cervilles, the surrounding farmland with Cervilles castle being the objective of the attacking forces.

Conditions

Misty and wet underfoot from the previous night's rainstorm.

The Engagement

Once there was a breach in the eastern gate, it took reinforcements longer than anticipated to come from the barracks by the castle down to the gate, costing crucial time. This allowed Willas' forces to head up to the hill leading to the castle before the reinforcements had even left the castle gates.

Outcome

Allowed forces to take Cervilles Castle, taking control of the area from [Name] and allowing Willas Lyrinth to proceed onto Mergewater

Aftermath

Allowed Willas to unite the 4 countries into Lyrinthia where Cervilles was transformed into a prosperous trade down.

Historical Significance

With Cervilles being on the main trade road, this made it an ideal point to resupply Willas Lyrinth's troops before marching on to Mergewater.

Legacy

Some scars can still be seen in both the landscape and the architecture of Cervilles, the barracks have been moved closer to the main gate for a faster response to any future attacks.

In Literature

This battle has letters and records kept from both sides of the conflict, bards also told tales of the actions of the soldiers on both sides for a several years after the battle.
