Festival of Milios

The festival of Milios takes place on the last day of the harvest season. It is a joyous occasion where farmers celebrate their harvest. The festival is usually a large feast in smaller villages where the whole community come together and share their bounties and produce with one another. This brings the community, especially farming communities closer together.   In larger settlements and cities many smaller feasts are organised in different areas. Mergewater once tried a city-wide feast to try and match their summer festival, but the logistics proved too difficult to serve everyone at once. There is still a fairly large version of the feast held in both the temple and market districts each year however.   A portion of the feast, something from each farmer is donated in offering to Milios, the god of prosperity as thanks for the year's harvest. If there is a temple dedicated to Milios, or a member of the Priesthood of Milios lives in the area, a donation is given to them as well as thanks for their service, and as something to donate to the poor and those without food. A prayer is then said as a group in request for a bountiful harvest the following year. No further donations are given as Milios does not like to be "bribed" in such away, but will happily take a token of appreciation after a deed has been done.   At the feast the food that is served varies from region to region as it depends on what crops are grown in the surrounding areas of farm land. However breads from grown grain, roasts from slaughtered animals, freshly caught fish, beers, wines and spirits are common items found in a lot of areas.
