Cervilles Temple of Milios
A building dedicated to the god of prosperity Milios. The temple is used for worship, thanks giving and prayers of need.
Purpose / Function
The main religious building in Cervilles, dedicated to the god of prosperity Millios. It is the largest building in the city, even larger than the castle going by footprint. This place functions as a meeting place and place of worship for those who follow the teachings of Milios. As Milios is the god of prosperity, there are a lot of merchants who have set up shop around the temple, trying to be as close as possible, thinking that will win them favour with the god.
Alterations
The building started off as a small chapel when the city was nothing more than a village. That part of the temple was demolished to make way for the new, much larger and grander main hall. Over time parts have been added and modified to accommodate changes in the needs of the priesthood and the congregation, such as living quarters, libraries, meeting rooms and the like.
Architecture
The building resembles a grand cathedral with one main chamber in the centre where sermons and ceremonies take place, as well as offices, priest quarters, and other smaller rooms and structures build off of the side. The building is on the main road that leads up to the castle and at that side of the building is a courtyard intended for congregations. In the center of the courtyard is a statue of Milios, looking over the land.
History
When the city was just a small village on a trade route on the border of two countries, the temple was jsut a small chapel, and remained that way for decades. But as the village grew into a bustling trade hub, so did the temple. The temple was upgraded to pay thanks to Milios, who the town believes helped bring the settlement to it's current prosperity.
