Usemi (You-se-me)

Usemi is a slow and brutally painful deformation of a living entity's body due to unrestricted magic output.
All living beings of Asmatum  have magic flowing through them, however, the flow output from being to being varies. Researches of magic postulate that a living organisms body functions as type of valve for magic to flow into the world. This valves restrictiveness is determined at birth and is not normally something that is changeable. However from time to time magic flow in a being can become "unrestricted" and this leads to horrific disfigurement of the individual and regression to a more beast-like state.

Transmission of Usemi at this point is uncertain those that care for patients do not seem to contract symptoms and the infection is random and untraceable

History

The first document event was Kate Garvy a woman in her mid-twenties. Witchdoctor Quentin Frestra was called to help the women out. the doctor was unable to help and the women ended up dying due to a combination of unnatural cranial dysmorphia and skin narcotization. This resulted in the patient's brain falling out of its natural protective area and tore the spinal cord.

Cultural Reception

People are generally sympathetic to an individual diagnosed with Usemi serving and comforting them in the early stages of development. Later after mental faculties have been determined to be fully lost most individuals are released into the wild or held in captivity for research this is determined by the family.
