Pashtu Desert

"From dust, to dust." - Unbowed Nomad proverb.

The wide sandy wastes and barren rocky expanses of the Pashtu Desert hold many secrets, ancient and new. It's also littered with the bodies of the foolish and unwary who ventured into the dunes unprepared.

Geography

The Pashtu stretches from the Silver Mountains in the south all the way to the badlands in northern Traia. and spans the continent east to west.
The land is dominated by rolling dunes, occasionally dotted by oases large and small, the occasional ruined city, temple, or keep. In its heart is the Mazii River, which runs from the veld in the far northwestern corner of the country, with tributaries running down from the northern mountains. The Mazii runs through the canyons of the Bowra Pass and to the ocean at Dashia.
The Pashtu is a big expanse of inhospitable land and the poorly prepared rarely survive to make a second attempt at exploring it. The sands swallow corpses and cities alike. Sandstorms can blow up suddenly from the west and water is scarcer the further you get from the Mazii.
The southernmost portion of the Pashtu is largely uninhabited but recently explorers have found silver and gem deposits on the northern faces of the Silver Mountains. Traditionally this land has belonged to Traia, but the new wealth under the mountain has sparked, thus far, unarmed conflicts over the region.

Fauna & Flora

Cacti, and other desert plants dot the area with date palms and other floral, less hardy plants clinging around oases.
The Pashtu is home, in parts to lions, jackals, giant spiders, lizards, and even stranger beasts.
