Kaina Citadel

Kaina Citadel is an important walled fortress at a crucial point in the Bowra Pass: a crossroad that connects the capital, Dashia and Ein Bowra, along with the western expanses and the many oasis towns that dot the Pashtu Desert. Kaina also sits along a navigable branch of the Mazii River. Kaina Citadel has a small, overpopulated town built up around it. Primarily it serves as a military outpost for the kingdom. This means the soldiers are professionals, not conscripts or irregulars. It's a well-trained and equipped force of a few thousand. Most of those are cavalry as the biggest threat to the region are marauding Unbowed Nomads.

Demographics

Kaina is mostly inhabited by Ethnic Traians, but several dozen Unbowed Nomads are kept as slaves by various people, and groups throughout the fortress and surrounding town. A small handful of dwarves call Kaina home. There is never more than one or two elves in the city and they are generally only passing through.

Government

Kaina Citadel is, first and foremost, a fortress. As such, it is entirely under the control of the military, which reports directly to the Crown in normal circumstances. Since Queen Amiyra is not of age, the military falls under the command of her uncle, Prince-Regent Hakim Wazida. Below him, and living in Kaina is Emir Wahid Wazida, the Prince's son.

Infrastructure

The fortress is nestled in walls that are thirty feet high and squats along the shore of the Mazii River. It has a small, protected harbor with chains spanning the entrance that allows for about ten medium-sized ships to dock.
