Thirngari

Thirngari is the capital of Dhar Darom, the dwarven kingdom, and the largest trading center of Eridania. Originally it was inhabited only by dwarves, but after the creation of the Council and opening of the kingdoms, people from various places came to live there, making the capital what it is today. Thirngari is also the only city located on the coast of Dhar Darom.

Government

The city is the seat of the government of Dhar Darom, being where the monarch and its entire court is located. In Thirngari are decided all the laws and taxes that refer to the internal government of the nation, making the city the most important of the kingdom for politics.

Defences

The city is divided into three circles, each surrounded by wide walls with observation towers. These walls have several devices for defense against sieges, whether by sea or by land, as devices for spilling boiling oil, moats, bridges, catapults, ballista, among others.

Industry & Trade

As previously said, the city is one of the largest trading centers on the planet, and the trade and manufacturing activities are the highlights of the place. The shops and tents occupy most of the city, and the port of Thirngari receives ships from all over the world that are interested in the ores and jewels sold there.   In the markets are sold items from all Eridania, brought through the ships that stop there. The products exported by Thirngari and Dhar Darom are ores and precious stones, as well as items made from these materials (weapons, armor and jewelery) and some manufactured goods (furniture, clothing, books and crafts) made from materials from all over Eridania. From other kingdoms they import fabrics, spices, potions, dyes, some types of food, wood, among others.   Another very valuable item found in the market of Thirngari are the rare griffin eggs, as these creatures make their nests in high mountains, like the mountains of the kingdom. Many adventurers in search of fortune come from other kingdoms to hunt the griffin eggs to sell them to the army, but only a few survive, since the nests are in very high places and the wild griffins are extremely deadly creatures.

History

Thirngari was the first settlement to be formed in Dhar Darom due to its proximity to the mountains and the contact with the sea. As the dwarven mines developed and gained fame, the city grew, and the first trade relations with other kingdoms began.   The city suffered greatly from pirate attacks at its beggining, before the formation of the Council. With each attack, the dwarves reinforced more and more the defenses of the place, creating new mechanisms, since they always were, besides great miners, also great inventors.   It became the capital and residence of royalty only after the creation of the Elder Council, since it was necessary that the kingdom's government be at a more strategic point for relations with the other kingdoms, something that the relation with the sea helped. Then the royal palace was built on the highest hill in the city, in the district that was renamed the Crown District or King's District. The opening of the kingdoms brought several individuals of other races into the city, which ultimately enriched the culture of many ways, but also generating several disputes.   Elves and dwarves have always had a certain rivalry, mainly due to the pride of each race. Both were always very skilled in the arts of forging and jewelry, and one always tried to steal the secrets of the other. There were many fights and even small wars between the kingdoms in the old ages, and these bitter memories remained in the minds of both peoples. At first, the royalty of Dhar Darom received the people with open arms, even elves, but soon the old sorrows ended up generating a commercial war within the walls of Thirngari, having to be the intervention of the Council to end these disputes.   In spite of these small disputes, Thirngari grew more and more with the help of other peoples, and they ended up showing an example to the world of cooperation between races. This cooperation even helped defend the city from the numerous attempts of invasion by the League of Darkness, which sought to destabilize the trade of Eridania.
