Volkamenia was born in Armeria Maritima to a trader. Her father was a ship's captain who brought goods from Armeria Maritima to all of the Ushanni ports and back.
She began traveling with her father as a cabin girl when she was 6; in her travels, she met her future husband, Cadence AKA Denny, in the inland port of Iris.
