Tyriotrax

The Senator of Zestós

"I can't say I've met all that many dragons, maybe twenty at best. But none of them are quite like Tyriotrax. A steel dragon and a rather wealthy one at that, he is one of the only steel dragon to be open about his true nature to the public, and he is also the only known dragon that is part of the Authenian Senate." ~Balen Flowers, Overseer of Northern Arcadian Affairs.
Tyriotrax is the Senator of Zestós, and owns a large vineyard and winery there. If there is a large shadow above Zestós, chances are it is Tyriotrax in his true form.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Tyriotrax entered Zestós at the age of 77 in a mortal disguise, with nothing but the clothes on his back. At first he earned his money by hunting oxes and black bears. Due to being a dragon, Tyriotrax did not need to eat or drink much, which helped him save money. After being in Zestós for five years, he finally saw a worthy business opportunity, a small tavern was being opened and the owner was struggling financially. Tyriotrax invested heavily in the tavern and became a part owner. This investment allowed Tyriotrax to increase his wealth at a steady pace.   Tyriotrax began to seek higher paying work, and eventually became the town's alchemist. No one knew that the poison he was selling to kill monsters was actually formed from his own breath. After moderate success, eventually Tyriotrax sold his shop to a mortal alchemist and used the money he gained from that sale to purchase a small wine vineyard. As his winery flourished, so did his grip on the market of Eregost. He started to buy shares in the Adamant Sickle trading company and even invested in the sugar industry in Rhodesseum. Tyriotrax began to expand his vineyard, to the point where it is now the largest in Zestós.   In 1108, Zestós was being attacked by a blue dragon. No mages were present, and the guards weren't prepared to deal with a threat of this size. Tyriotrax could not bear to see life he had built and the friends he had made to be destroyed, and so he took his true form and fought the blue dragon. After a gruelling battle, Tyriotrax came out victorious, though brutally wounded. Tyriotrax expected the people of Zestós to take advantage of his critically wounded state and finish him off, but instead he was cheered for his heroism.   As he healed his wounds, he learnt that many had already believed that he was not mortal, as Tyriotrax had made the foolish mistake of forgetting to slowly age his mortal disguise, meaning that while those around him began to age and then die off, Tyriotrax still looked like a mortal in his thirties.   Tyriotrax was overwhelmed by the accepting nature of the people of Zestós and began to spread his money out more generously. He became a philanthropist practically overnight. Eventually Tyriotrax wanted to change society for the betterment of the people of Zestós, and to do this he campaigned for the title of Senator. Tyriotrax won in a landslide and has one every election since, making him the longest serving Senator within the Republic thanks to over two hundred years in office.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Tyriotrax has a powerful desire to protect what is his. While at first this merely meant chasing off potential thieves, it has now grown to a protective desire to keep Zestós and its people safe. He will do anything in his power to improve both his business and the quality of the lives of those in Zestós.

Likes & Dislikes

Tyriotrax has a great love of string instruments, and has a large collection. Ranging from harps, to lyres to violins. He has learnt how to play all of them, and he still enjoys adding to his collection.   Tyriotrax has a love of rum, which he purchases in large amounts from Ilios, on Rhodesseum. He enjoys sitting on a hillside in Zestós, drinking rum and watching the sun set. He is a dragon that enjoys the finer things in life.   Tyriotrax enjoys the heat, which was the main reason he moved to Zestós in the first place. This love of heat is abnormal for steel dragons, who usually prefer more moderate and mild climates.

Social

Reign

Tyriotrax has been part of the Authenian Senate for over two hundred years. He has managed to increase public services and security across Zestós, whilst also reducing taxes upon his people by using government funds to invest in several businesses that are now thriving. This increase in government profits means that the tax rate has been lowered.

Contacts & Relations

As the Senator of Zestós, Tyriotrax has major political pull in the Authenian Senate. He is incredibly well respected by his fellow senators, due to the fact that he has over two hundred years of experience within the Senate, making him by far the oldest and most experienced among them.   As a major shareholder of the Adamant Sickle, there is little that Tyriotrax cannot obtain. He manages to feel comfortable both when dealing with the Authenian government and when discussing matters with corporations. He regularly blurs the line between businessman and politician.

Wealth & Financial state

Tyriotrax is incredibly wealthy, despite his relatively charitable nature. He owns large shares in the Adamant Sickle trading company, is the founder and CEO of the Steel Vine winery and is a partial owner of the majority of the businesses in Zestós.   He has invested in the sugar farms of Rhodesseum and the fishing industry in Kardiá. He has even spread his influence as far as Ithaca, where he is a major shareholder in multiple of the iron mines.   It is believed by many that Tyriotrax has a vast treasury hidden somewhere within Eregost, filled with gold, gems, and magical items. No one has ever found any evidence of its existence and Tyriotrax refuses to comment about it.

Quotes & Catchphrases
"Dragons often feel an overwhelming desire to protect their treasure. Some worry that I too feel this urge and suspect that I favour my wealth over the people of Zestós. What they do not realise is that Zestós and its people are my greatest treasures."
