Dionysia

Dionysia is a winter festival held in the name of Dionysus, Olympian God of Wine and Debauchery. This five day long festival is filled with feasting and drinking spiced wine.

Execution

The Festival of Dionysia is held to lift the spirits of those in Eregost during the winter. The festival lasts for five days and in that time, people are encouraged to spread merriment and indulge in fine food and drink. The Church of Dionysus spends weeks before the festival making large portions of wine so that they may give it out to public for free. During the festival, people invite their friends and family to their home in order to party, feast and drink away their worries.

Components and tools

It is traditional for the centerpiece of a feast to be a roast ox during Dionysia, as their large bodies supply plenty of meat for revellers to enjoy without having to worry about running out.
Spiced wine is considered to be almost essential to Dionysia. It helps to warm the blood and soothe the nerves. Some drink more spiced wine than water during the festival, leading to some of the most extreme hangovers ever recorded in history.
Many enjoy eating Dionysian cactus fruit during the festival. These fruit look like large, light purple plums, and eating them can cause powerful hallucinations and a sense of euphoria.
