Arcadia

Demographics

The populace of Arcadia is largely human and high elf, due to the proximity of he headquaters of the Authenian Archives. Arcadia is a thriving community and as such there is little poverty, those with low incomes are often supported by the government. There is a large number of scholars in Arcadia, drawn by the Archives. Many olive farmers also live in the city, as the nearby land is fertile and the markets is the perfect location to sell them.

Government

Arcadia is one of the safest places in the Republic, thanks to the warm weather, low poverty rate, proximity to the Authenian Archives and the thorough security.   Taxes are moderate and help to maintain public spaces such as libraries, bath houses and the amphitheatre. Taxes also go to the education of children living in the city. The local government is run from the City Hall, where citizens can request a meeting with Dimos Solil, the senator of Arcadia.

Defences

The City is partolled regularly by Authenian Guards, and has several guard stations. Arcane runes placed by the AAC are scattered throughout the city, with their passwords given to the guards. These runes vary in purpose, from healing spells to protective wards to even teleportation spells incase the city needs to be evacuated.

Industry & Trade

Arcadia is where mages from throughout Eregost go in order to collect knowledge, lore and magical items of significant power, thanks to the Authenian Archives.   Just outside of the city, lies large olive farms, which are harvested for their oil, processed and then sold. The oil is used to fuel oil lamps and to create soaps and paints.

Guilds and Factions

Arcadia houses the Authenian Archives, which is owned by the AAC. The archives do hold historical and legal documents but most of its literature is arcane in nature. The Archives also contains magical artifacts and specimens of unusual origins.

Architecture

Most government buildings are made of white marble for both recognition and structural strength. They often have large decorated marble pillars both inside and outside of them.   Non-government buildings are typically made from a mixture of both wood and stone, with plaster covering the inside walls to make it smooth and keep the cold out.
