The Bringers

In the beginning, we were not here. We were somewhere else, however, far beyond the stars.   Our ancestors talk about strange beings that not only brought us to this land, but also thought us many things and gave us wise advice to have a good life. This is the matter of this book.
-- introduction of The Bringers

Purpose

The purpose of the The Bringers is to tell the story of the first men and their relations with the supernatural beings that name the book.   According to the book, men are not native to Earth; instead, they were brought by these beings, sometimes named "Ell-Khar", for mysterious reasons.   The first men were taught where to get food and where to shelter, and also received many orders. One of them was "do not drive yourselves beyond the Great Water", what is interpreted today as "do not cross the sea".   The book is a religious mark and used as a guide for many people of Talung.

Document Structure

Legal status

The book was considered the official moral guide of many peoples in Talung until 853 B.F., year of the Thinking Reformulation. From this date until the present time, only some countries, such as Fergrun and Unvère, take it as part of the official national religion.   Other countries may have it as a permitted book, and only a few expressely prohibite it.

Historical Details

Background

The Bringers was published when scholars found it was needed to formalize the bringerist thinking. This religion was already well-spread through a great part of Talung, but the most the religion was spread, more and more contradictions started ao appear between the believers.

History

The publication of the book marks the formalization of the Bringerist religion, making it's expansion happen in a more organized way.

Public Reaction

Most people were already adepts of the bringerist thinking, and the document only formalized their religion.

What exactly were the "Ell-Khar"?

"Exactly" is a very strong word, but we can say they were kind of aliens. But very advanced ones, being able to travel dimensions and move through time and that kind of thing. They are very different from anything in my world and I still have to develop them better, but basically they live in a "superior" dimension and every action they take can affect our own dimension, even if they don't know.   For a common person on Earth, they would be basically gods.
