Failures & Embarrassments

Disclosed after drunken/high "outburst/temper tantrum" at Witch Hattie/Evanora's place.   Luther was lone survivor of a long range mining expedition searching for a new spot of mining. While on watch, Luther was knocked out by a blow to his head. He barely woke to be in time to see goblins stomp to death a few of his last party members. However, the blow addled his wits and unaware which way to go home. He wandered for months and months, slowly regaining bits of memory while always running for his life from groups of wild orcs, kobolds or goblins.   Finally see some landmarks, Luther headed home and was found by a group of passing dwarves and safely escorted him home. Only for Luther to find out his family was all gone, his father, brother and uncle dead from search attempts, landslides or deadly encounters in the wild. His mother as well dead, from despair of losing her family. His last remaining relative, Uncle Tobacky, (nicknamed SmokeBeard from being a heavy constant smoker) took in Luther and healed him back at least physically. Luther, being unable to bear the guilt flashbacks and pitying looks of other dwarves, left to go see the world as part of his new life outlook, You Only Live Once (YOLO) so Roll One/Light One(ROLO) if you got em.

Erdemon 12th to Ulmomon 3rd Year 219 of Human Arrival

Game Session: 19-Sept-2020 Group: Luther, Narcan, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor   Erdemon 12th to 19th Year 219 of Human Arrival Leave Skodorak on the 12th, after loading up on supplies. Head north up the trail to Zhoran, a trip of eight to ten days to this dwarven mining city. After 2 days of travel, group is attacked by bugbears trying to ambush the party. The 8 bugbears regret the attempt with their lives and we take their treasure. Group stops at a travel inn run by orc owner, had no idea what a bugbear is or were even around. Does mention that orc town of Gugor is having problem with a green dragon raiding locals there, but that was a month ago. Also, not much travel from the north which is not normal.   Erdemon 14th A trading caravan of three carts in on the trail. Group makes some purchases. Luther buys two silver fore-arm bands for 12 silver pieces. That night, have chat with a "friendly" ogre who could speak common, was hunting and not having any luck, so we gave him some food. He went on his way.   Erdemon 15th Reach Orc city of Gugor, about 1000 population. Orcs not very friendly, so Luther and Putz try to get some in archery contest. Orcs do not want to make any bets with Putz, but orc named Hunzog willing to challenge Luther. Luther wins the contest for 2 silver and parties with Hunzog afterwards. Luther gets very drunk, may have or likely have slept with a female orc per comments/smirks from Hunzog the next morning. Find out same story about Zhoran, trade has dropped off, no reason why.   =========== Game Session: 03-Oct-2020 Group: Luther, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor, Kursk   Erdemon 16th Continue to travel north from Gugor, around noon, attacked by goblins. Imlazor shows them by blasting out his first fireball. Luther yells, "You blasting ninny of fire thrower, yell when you going to blow something to smithereens." Check the bodies and all have green dragon scale as a symbol, one goblin is captured and says they are of the tribe Snorks and Fa-Uno, green dragon, is leader in cave by hide out. Group decides "Lets hunt some dragon", find the trail to the goblin hideout, get spotted by 2 goblins on watch but arrows and magic missiles get them. Charge main entrance to hideout. Big fight with goblins in main room, unfortunately Kursk, Putz and Imlazor encounter the green dragon Fa-Uno before rest of party wipes out goblins. Fight goes bad for us, as Kursk and Putz drop, so Imlazor cries out "parlay and truce" to the dragon. For us to leave and take our wounded, give up the plate mail and 20 silver from group booty. Flee back to the inn north of Gugor, takes two days(17th and 18th) to heal and recover for Kursk and Putz.   Nearly fully recovered, a party of orcs with wagons from Gugor come to the inn. They are leaders and guard for the Thane of Gugor's daughter, Wegra, who they are taking to Urog, another orc city, to meet Burag, son of the Thane of Urog, with intent to marry as an alliance. At dinner time, Wegra comes over to our group, causing some angst among the orc leaders. She asks about us being adventurers and what its like. She sees Kursk wearing an amulet and asks where he got it. Kursk said his human mother gave it to him but no other knowledge. Wegra says its a symbol of the Uruk, a "orc tribe of legend". Next day, the orc party splits off trail to Urog and we continue on trail to Zhoran.   Erdemon 21st(???) A few days later on the trail, we see a lone figure trailing our group but keeping distance while matching our pace. Find out its Wegra, who now goes by Ferral. She was inspired by our adventure talk and made a plan to sneak away. She had her main lady attendant get a potion of change self and take her place. The lady attendant is willing to take Wegra's place as it is elevation of position. Ferral wants to see the world, different races and learn magic, as she is already a novice wizard but orc society suppresses such talent. She closely trailed the group in case of trouble but waited a few days so too far for us to take her back. We agree to let her come along.   =========== Game Session: 17-Oct-2020 < I missed session> summary is group made it to Zhoran with some minor encounters ===========   Game Session: 31-Oct-2020 Group: Luther, Uvarum, Kursk, Putz, Imlazor, Wurg (New player Dirck)   Erdemon 27 to Malecanthal 11 or 12, Year 219 of Human Arrival Zhoran is fair sized dwarf mining city. Ask about local situation. North of city there are "no good guys". Lots of monsters and ogres and orcs. Plan is to leave Ferral in Zhoran where she can safely learn some things. That night, somebody sees a late arrival come into town in middle of a rider, wearing plate mail with symbol of Vasha/Elbereth. Find he is a paladin named Sir Loric.   Erdemon 28th or "Erde Day" After using the Erdestein divining rod, head north from Zhoran. Attacked by three "ghost" ogres, get blasted by two Imlazor fireballs.   Malecanthal 1st to 2nd Rough travel as region very rugged terrain of canyons, steep valleys. On the 2nd, thought getting airborne might help detect the Erdestein. Uvarum goes bird from carrying rod. Rolls 27 but no detection.   Malecanthal 3rd to 7th Bad weather grounds search. Move farther north and Uvarum tries again with no luck. He has to fly/hide as he sees a dragon in distance, he feels was trying to detect Uvarum. good weather 6th and 7th but no detection. travel north.   Malecanthal 8th to 10th Uvarum gets a response from rod and moves in close and feels strong vibration where he spots 3-5 ogres next to a cave mound. Uvarum reports back and group marches closer to ogres hideout during the 9th. On tenth, Uvarum in bird form tries to get a better count on number of ogres. Guesses to be 20 to 30 total, most of them adult or near adult. ===========   Game Session: 14-Nov-2020 Group: Luther, Uvarum, Kursk, Putz, Imlazor, Wurg male human fighter (New player Dirck)   Malecanthal 11th Plan to lure out a few ogres at a time as we set up on ridge overlooking ogre cave mound. Putz does a fake elk call and two ogres come out to hunt, cross over top of ridge and both killed. Ogre leader comes out waiting for two hunters, calls out five more ogres and head up ridge. Once in range, Imlazor blasts off two fireballs, wounding the ogres but not killing any. Arrow volleys drop two more and melee combat takes out remaining four. We put ogre leaders head on a lance on top of ridge. One ogre sees it, calls out to entrance where nine more come out. All ten charge up to the ridge. Big battle, group does well rolling and bad guys do not, except the ones on Uvarum's pet wolf, Noz-Drull, who nearly dies at -9 before Uvarum can save with a heal spell. Search the cave complex and with help of Erdestein rod, find a hidden entrance, too small for ogres. It leads down to more tunnels. As we search, come across some humanoids, called "Grabers" a dwarf like race who are good miners, followers of Erde and protectors of an Erdestein. They believe it also protects them. Imlazor leads the discussion to convince the female leader named Helmae to give the Erdestein to us, with key leverage point of someone(Luther??) showing the Graber leaders our Erde marks. They agree to give us this Erde stone of power to save others after Imlazor offers his Erde cloak, a gift that disguised him as an elf to protect his family, along with a carved Erde statue.   1000 silver pieces in treasure, magic ogre sword and magic armor. Gave sword to Wurg to use as 2-handed bastard sword. Silver split with group in 22-Jan session. ===========   Game Session: 22-Jan-2022 (yes a long pause in the campaign) Group: Luther, Uvarum, Kursk, Putz, Imlazor, Wurg, Narcan (male elf cleric), Cymbaline (female elf cleric), and NPC Ferral (female orc, learning to be a wizard, formerly named Wegra but wants to be an adventurer instead).   Malecanthal 12th to 16th This clan of Grabers ready to help us leave by another exit instead of ogre hideout. Imlazor and Uvarum help use magic to close off the secret entrance so not even little ogres could come down. Grabers heal party and we head back out to go south. Group safely made it to dwarf mining burg of Zhoran by noon 16th. Ferral is still there at the inn we left her at and she has learned all the spells in the spell book Imlazor gave her. Also, see a caravan come in of 4 wagons, attacked by bug bears, lost a couple of guards.   Imlazor decides that with giving up of his Erde elf disguise cloak, he will now go by his human name Dalaz. Believes it to be a sign of his transformation and recognition that he is a human mage and left the world see it. Sir Loric is still at Zhoran, been hanging out mostly at the temple. Group tries to get more info but nothing. Narcan and ??Uvarum visit the temple, Sir Loric chats with them and says he is traveling all over to spread the word of Vasha. He is planning to head to Kragmorton while Narcan says we are heading south if wish to join us. Meanwhile, Luther buys four more pounds of Gnomish Clover.   Malecanthal 17th to 19th Sir Loric does not join group. Group heads south to Mobiz. Just north of orc town Mobiz, ambushed by 9 bugbears(Luther failed spot badly), after 2 rounds of fighting leader of bugbears demands we surrender and he would let us live. Kursk, after already killing two bugbears, charges the bugbear leader. Ferral shows off her spell casting. All the bugbears are wiped out. Party wants to track them to see if lair nearby, Luther does for a couple miles but loses trail. Head back to trail and head south. We march on thru Mobiz, Ferral hides herself in cloak so as not to be recognized, just in case.   On 19th, at a travel inn, get stories from orcs of less goblin raids. Group heads south, on the trail, Luther spots "something" just off the trail, some type of shimmer or shadow. Everyone's Mark of Erde on the arm, starts to itch, same feeling as in kobold camp when evil "odd big orcs" showed up. Narcan gets a detect evil but then the "shadow" moves away and is lost. Was this just a random coincidence or gaining possession of ErdeStein mark the group? Party continues and makes it to Sleeping Dragon Inn.   400XP for group ===========   Game Session: 05-Feb-2022 Group: Luther, Uvarum, Kursk, Dalaz nee Imlazor, Wurg, Narcan (male elf cleric), Cymbaline (female elf cleric), and NPC Ferral (female orc, learning to be a wizard, formerly named Wegra but wants to be an adventurer instead).   Malecanthal 19th to 28th At Sleeping Dragon Inn, evening of 19th at Sleeping Dragon Inn, orc innkeeper asks Uvarum for help. Small items and bits of food been missing but he is not sure what is doing it. Nozdrul finds tracks but Uvarum needs Luther to track and Luther determines it is kobolds. Get party together and track them for 2-3 hours, path becomes a group of 8-12 kobolds but going into swamp, so end tracking as tracks getting harder to see at night and in swamp water. Innkeeper gives out 20 silver for letting him know what it is stealing. This is a new thing that is happening. He also says goblins raids are down last month. Group wonders if related to wiping out most of the goblins helping Fa-Uno raiding.   Malecanthal 20th Head south to next inn, Ferral is keeping out of sight since near her home clan village of Gugor and does not want to be discovered. What we do discover that night, Wurg(Dirck's hick low IQ human fighter) likes to talk about dragons, orc princesses, earth stones to the other human travelers. Fortunately, the other orc travelers are not interested either. Also late that night, a bunch of goblins sneak into the inn to raid but luckily we do have a single person on watch, Narcan, who raises the alarm and party wakes up and smashes the goblins, with Kursk and Wurg catching part of fireball from Dalaz casting at fleeing goblins. And for LEWT, get 200 silver and... a full set of plate mail the goblins had in a cart. (Just the way the dice roll, ugggg). Wurg wants to use it.   On 21st, bypass around Gugor to protect Ferral identity and with several safe days, reach Skodorak on 25th.   Ferral tries to help Kursk learn more about his "Uruk" amulet symbol, a tribe of legendary Orcs that even the elves respected them. Per the shaman who gave the amulet to Kursk, makes no sense that Kursk's human mother has it in possession and Uruk legend has them far to the north of even the dwarves of Kragmorton, maybe, possibly but they do not exist anymore. Kursk wants to go ASAP but Luther convinces to go after we save Erde.   Luther sets up meeting with Malinda, the thane of Skodorak's dragon mount, to sell the ogre leader +1 chain-mail we got from up north. After some minor haggling, settle on 1000 silver pieces. Also, everyone new to the group wanted to meet the dragon. Ferral asked Dalaz to help disguise her more and so he cast some skin "bleaching" spell, so she went from very dark brown to a more natural lighter tan. Ferral and Kursk ask if Malinda knows anything about Uruk's but she adds little to what. Again Wurg is a blabber mouth, has more brains below the belt than between the ears. So when Malinda asks of our adventures, he lets is known we have a "purdy Erdy power rock". And Dalaz being completely honest when questioned by Malinda, and tells mostly all that "Yes we have an Erdestein, Aginor asked us to get it. We got it up north in area where Balthamel lives." Dalaz does NOT say anything about the Orb of Haldor. We ask both the orc emissary with us and Malinda to secrecy about the Erdestein. Plan to head to Hudham the next day.   450xp ===========   Game Session: 19-Feb-2022 Group: Luther, Dalaz nee Imlazor, Uvarum, Kursk, Wurg, Narcan (male elf cleric), and Ferral (NPC female orc, learning to be a wizard, formerly named Wegra but wants to be an adventurer instead).   Ulmomon 1st to 3rd Leave Skodorak with weather improving to get to Hudham with Erdestien. Still rainy travel. On watch, party attacked by 5 Katun and a leader Urmech. These are the baddies who seem to be able to "shimmer" away from sight. Luther and Dalaz on watch as they attacked the camp. It became apparent they were after Dalaz in trying to take him alive. Some spells from Ferral and Uvarum helped Dalaz delay being abducted and the fighters able to rescue Dalaz. All five Katun were killed but the leader got away. Move camp in case of second attack but no issues.   Party makes it to Hudham late afternoon and quickly get a meeting with Auric so he can study the Erdestien as well as pass on information what he has learned about the Orb of Haldor. He states the Orb sucks life force from the user. Confirmed it does seem partially powered. Party rests and sets up watch on Auric's study/house.   Ulmomon After a day of study, Auric says the Erdestien, with its earth power, could be used to power the Orb of Haldor but may drain the Erdestein in the process. Ferral is introduced by Dalaz as a wanna-be magic user. She is thrilled that Hudham exists.   Treasure from Katun 1 MW javelin 3 gems 10, 50, 100 silver pieces.   400XP   400xp

Isisal 2nd to 9th Year 219 of Human Arrival

Game Session: 27-Jun-2020 Group: Luther, Kursk, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor, NPC Brand   Isisal 2nd to 9th Year 219 of Human Arrival   Retrieve the Orb and head south. Head to Hudham as best magic source to analyze the "Orb of Haldor". March thru mangrove for two day, when on the coast and see a boat of humans bound up, being pulled by lizardfolk about half mile from shore. Nothing we can do to save them unfortunately. Makes several in group all the more zealous to end Aginor's slave raids.   Make good time to get to human lands, only one detour for a giant praying mantis and get to Hudham on 5th. There Imlazor talks to his master and mentor of magic arts, tells Imlazor that Orb of Haldor is beyond his skill. Directs us to go to an elf magic user "specialist" tomorrow. That evening, Luther invites a few others to share a smoke. One of them Daria, a short curvy plump blonde, suggests they relax in private and share some good ale.   On the 6th, Imlazor, Putz and Uvarum head just north of Hudham to meet the elf mage Aurik. Meanwhile Kursk attempts to get a magic weapon for Brand but fails to fine anyone(diplomacy roll of 1). Luther "relaxes" some more with Daria. Daria helps Luther find a caster to make his short sword Claw +1.   Isisal 7th/8th, group rests at Hudham waiting for info from Aurik. He reports he needs much more time to study it and would we leave the "Orb of Haldor" is his care. Having no other options, group agrees. Leave for Skodorak on the 9th, had decided next plan is go back to "DropOff point" and try capture some leader type on why Aginor needs human/orc/elf slaves.   ============ July 11 session - I missed this. Just a high level summary of session.   Party marched back into swamp. Recent operating procedure has been Imlazor to cast "rope trick" at night to avoid encounters and stay safe. A pack for black kobolds somehow were able to discover the spell and dispell the area, causing the group to drop out. A fierce battle commenced, with brave Brand succumbing to his wounds, as well as several kobolds when a truce was called by kobold leader, Kuruk.   ============ Game Session: 27-Jun-2020 Group: Luther, Kursk, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor   Isisal 16th to 25th Year 219 of Human Arrival After fight on night of 16th, sneak away from any kobolds watching. By 19th, see the DropOff Point, scout the kobold camp as well as Snogg and Jenks goblin camps. Luther sees about 30 kobolds and some half dozen humans in cages. Scout of lizardmen camp, see two boats, under a dozen lizardmen in the water. Group decides to bluff past and rescue the hostages. We failed and about to get into huge battle when we mention Kuruk. The local kobold leader, Packu, allows us to wait for 2 weeks and gives us the five female human prisoners. Only Luanna wants to and able to fight if need be, so she gets some training with a spear.   Isisal 20th Luther and Putz have a plan they do not share with group. Fake an archery contest near Snogg tribe, get a couple to shoot arrows. Luther and Putz keep two arrows. On the 22nd Putz and Luther go "hunting" for food, but really to find a Jenk goblin to kill with Snogg arrow which they did. While those two were out, the remaining group "feels" an evil presence show up out of a shimmer <DM described it as "Predator" style>. This evil entity goes talk to Packu and passing by has the Erde symbols feel odd. Also, 6 Orc looking guardians show up with shimmer guy.   23rd was boring as group tries to "fortify" our camp with stakes, thorn brush. However, the 24th, hear big commotion from Snogg/Jenks goblin camps and watch as the two groups have archery firefight for a few hours. Lots of goblins dead and wounded. Group wonders why Putz and Luther were hooping and hollering so much, smirking like they knew something.   Isisal 25th Check out raider camps, see the lizardmen have 4 men prisoners. Party marches over as kobolds watch and kill 8 lizardmen raiders and bring one boat closer to camp along with 4 prisoners who all are sailors. Later that day, Uvarum sees a strange "shadow" go into black kobolds hideout cave and tries to sneak in but stopped by kobold guards. The shadow leaves a few hours later with 6-10 large "humanoids" as guards. Uvarum tries to follow discretely but a guard turns, walks up, and says "Go away". Uvarum decides discretion over valor this day. All these creatures radiated magic in a weird way like Meino.   ============ Game Session: 22-Aug-2020 Group: Luther, Kursk, Uvarum, Imlazor   Isisal 26th to Erdemon 3rd Year 219 of Human Arrival The next few days group tries to find escape path with Luther and Uvarum acting like they are fishing but looking for a safe ford crossing of river. meanwhile, Imlazor studies spell "Fog Cloud" as another option.   Erdemon 2nd A raft of Black Kobolds pull ashore. On it is leader Kuruk who comes to our group and says with some surprise, "Aginor is coming here to meet with you very soon."   Erdemon 3rd A shadow clouds the sky, dread fills the body and woosh swoop Aginor is here. Black kobolds rush out to bow and kneel before their god. We gather to face him and are looking up up up at a very big dragon. Aginor asks "What can your group do for me?" Ask him to stop the raids or response will escalate. Aginor says he might consider it if we can provide him an artifact, an ErdeStein? What is an Erdestein we ask. Aginor replies, "It is an item of earth power. And with it, I would no longer need to raid for slaves." Where is it we ask and wonder why Aginor is not able to get it. Aginor replies "It lies to the north in the mountains and why I do not go. Well another dragon claims that territory named Balfamel." Luther is started and says "You mean Balfamel the Red, dragon of legend?" "Why yes, that would be the same" mused Aginor with a slight hiss. Group confers and agrees to attempt to find this Erdestein. And the 10 humans go with us. Aginor agrees.   Imlazor asks of the portal in the Great Swamp, Aginor snaps his head around and says surprised we even know about it. Luther asks again about the portal and Aginor gives an obvious chuckle but says nothing about the portal but calls out to Imlazor, "Take this rod as it will be useful to help find the Erdestein, as it will bend to the direction location." When asked about how to contact him when we get the stone, Aginor says "Evanora can get in touch, so visit her". Aginor then leaves.   Imlazor gets a great diplomacy roll on Kuruk, and asks what is this Erdestein? When Erde became earth, areas of power were created with special stones and these stones can be used to create magic. Kuruk goes on to state that he hopes we succeed as he does not like the current alliance. We ask about the kobold casters with the staffs, and find out they call them "LoreMasters" who study a certain area of magic and can combine powers with others. (i.e. UrViles from Thomas Covenant)   We LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. lol. Take two boats and loaded party evenly with 4 sailors and 5 women.   Erdemon 4th Attack by lizardmen, they try to tip boat over. Uvarum calls for a shark (a D&D first in all our campaigns) to help get rid of lizardmen. Reach Boggs Landing 4am, morning of the 5th. Celebration for rescue. Everyone has fun. Luther has a "smoke" with friendly lady of Boggs Landing, she average looking brunette, middle aged and a bit lonely.   Erdemon 5th Luther finds out he has a letter from Liesl, she writes that a man asking about Luther at the inn. Seemed like a bad guy and wanted to warn Luther. Luther wants to write a thank you letter back and get Lady Friend to help, who is not that happy about the ask but Luther is oblivious. Letter written, Luther gets a nice necklace with 20 sp diamond and includes it in the letter as appreciation of thanks to Liesl and to try to, safely, find out any more information of this feller bad guy and send it to Skodorak and Ramoth Creek and Boggs Landing.   Group heads to Skodorak and several days later make it with no problems. There is another letter there for Luther from Liesl with more information. The bad guy was normal looking non-descript, with black hair but odd human accent, like the humans from up north near dwarf kingdom. She also thanks Luther for gift, wishing Luther to be safe and return to Hastsel for a gift from her in return.   Imlazor also receives a letter from Lady Rosemund, he blushes as he starts to read it and walks away for privacy.        

Meino, Malinda, The Orb, and a Luther reveal
Anansimon 14 to 7 Year 219 of Human Arrival

Game Session: 16-May-2020 Group: Luther, Kursk, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor, Narcan, Cymbaline, NPC Brand   Anansimon 14 to 29 Year 219 of Human Arrival After checking on more info on Meino, Narcan and Putz head to Hastsel library and spot Meino walking into a store. Narcan watches the back door as Putz approaches Meino stating the group is looking for him and just wants to talk. Meino stares at Putz and says "Alas for the Haldorian elves, fallen into darkness they have, I can say no more". Meino slowly ambles back out of store, like he has no will to live and Putz asks what can help. "You cannot help me... I cannot help you" and Putz lets Meino wander away. Luther tries to gather information from locals about Meino but no luck there. However, at the same store Meino was at, Luther discovers they sell Gnomish Clover, 13 silver for 1.5 pounds of good Gnomish Clover Gold. Store said they would have more delivered in a few weeks. Luther gives 25 silver to Liesl to buy more clover when it comes in, then has another tryst with her.   Anansimon 18th, party decides to head north to Skodorak to talk to Khadahk. (Why we thought this, notes say for naught). On the road, come across carriage with five people under a sleep spell, including daughter of Lady of Heatherton(small village). Putz and Uvarum discover five "Robin Hoods" hiding in the woods, robbing the rich, corrupt, high taxing nobles. They give up without a fight and voice complaints of Hastsel/Heatherton/Thresh's Cove nobility (all 3 leaders are friends). Send them on the way to not do this again. Reach Ramoth Creek evening of the 18th with no other issues. Settle in at favorite inn, latest news/rumors are: -No reported/known raids around Ramoth Creek -Supposedly a few raids north of Boggs Landing -Baron Welton has increased number of patrols but no encounters with any raiders.   While getting this news, a message is delivered inviting the group to meet with Baron Welton the next morning.   Anansimon 19th Chat with Baron was short. His requests to other barons regarding the raiding issue have been scoffed at by other barons or no reply at all. Once we tell him on way to Skodorak, asks party to deliver a formal letter to Khadahk. Luther takes the letter for safe keeping. Group leaves immediately and reaches the Halfway Inn on trail between Ramoth Creek and Skodorak.   Anansimon 20th Make it to Skodorak and give letter to Khadahk, ask about Haldor. He knows little but his green female dragon might. Need to wait three days to get and arrive with his green dragon, named Malinda. Khadahk makes grand entrance flying in on Malinda. She provides following information about Haldor: -Haldor elves did exist in region close to Aginor. -Aginor did not wipe out Haldor. -Goblin tribes did the attack and massacre about 80 years ago but had help. -Knows approximately where Haldor may exist but swamp has crept over it. -She does not know of Meino.   Luther gives Malinda 80 silver piece ruby as thanks for her information. Always good to keep in good graces of a dragon. ================================= Game Session: 30-May-2020 Group: Luther, Kursk, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor, Cymbaline, NPC Brand   Anansimon 24 Leave Skodorak and head NW to Great Swamp to chat with Evanora or Swamp Witch Hattie as Luther calls her. <after Jim Stafford song. lol> . That day, just off the trail a campfire is spotted but no one around. Group sneaks in to check it out when the fire speaks to us, "Hello, who are you". By the smokey beard of Aule, Luther nearly comes unglued, a talking fire, what madness is this as been no smoking of any gnomish clover. Group has found a fire spirit or elemental named Balag. Ummm, he???? or it tells it wandered from fire plan thru this portal and found itself in a dark evil place. Saw other nasty things come thru or already there and it left the area. This was about 100 years ago. For giving us this information, we each had to tell stories of ourselves and lands. Luther gives Balag a potion of alchemists fire to help protect itself.   On 26th, find a well traveled trail that let group to orc town of Zabad Tor. Luther in the lead, gets challenged first by orc gate guards and Luther snarks back rolling -1 for diplomacy, and the orcs kick us out. So sleep under the trees and march around Zabad Tor.   Traveling on 27th, mid morning, let a pack? troop? freaks? of giant ants crossing the trail, group decides to wait for them to continue without disturbance. However, just after lunch, see a party of 20+ goblins with six orcs as captives heading in direction of Great Swamp, obviously a raiding party. Get in ambush position and wipe out all but two of the goblins. During the fracas, Luther notices the six orcs trip and curb stomp a fleeing goblin. This triggers a faint disturbing memory of something familiar and significant. The rescued orcs are from Zabad Tor and tell us to visit and they will buy us drinks. The orcs told us the goblins were from the Jenks tribe. Evening of 27th see landmarks and find Evanora's home.   ================================= Game Session: 13-Jun-2020 Group: Luther, Kursk, Uvarum, Putz, Imlazor, NPC Brand   Anansimon 27th evening Explain to Evanora of our search and information. She says many kobold tribes loyal to Aginor, not just the "Black Kobolds". She agrees with Balag story that something evil is in the Great Swamp but its not Aginor. During the discussion and unnoticed by group, Luther is drinking lots of ale and smoking his gnomish clover, which he never does out in the "wild". Luther has nightmare of his past about the attacked mining expedition, he sees a dwarf friend try to run but is caught by goblins/kobolds, still hazy memory, and kicked to death. Luther half-awake and still drunk/high, attacks the kobold servants and Kursk, who is on watch. After a couple rounds and several good whomps from Kursk, Luther comes back to reality just before Evanora is about to cast a spell at him. Luther reveals guilt and shame at surviving that stills bother him. Luther apologizes to all. The next morning, he leaves sapphire gem(10 silver) and a pouch of Gnomish Clover for Evanora as recompense for disturbing her hospitality.   Anansimon 28th With vague directions from Evanora, head into swamp to find this "evil area" and hopefully Haldor. Group captures a goblin and questioned, this goblin does know of such an area and will lead us there if promise to let him live. We do so. That night 10 undead goblins attack the party, all are destroyed.   Anansimon 29th Trail given by goblin leads us to some ruins, covered in vines, overgrown and some building partially submerged or flooded. Attacked by multiple zombie goblins, fight goes on until an elf spectre appears and stops the zombie goblin attack. This elf spectre is a Haldorian elf. Talks of Erde, was creating an "Orb" to close the demon gate portal when wiped out. Possesses Imlazor, who states has knowledge to finish the "Orb".<??? is this right??> However, only Uvarum can retrieve the "Orb" from the center of the guardian tree.<???? correct ???> Need to throw the orb thru the portal which is south of Aginor's lair about 5-10 miles. You will know when you are close as it "feels like hell". Demons helped goblins destroy Haldor. Elf Spectre thinks Aginor is allied with demons but believes the demons serve Morgoth.   ==========

Letter to Hastsel King - and Who is Meino?
Anansimon 4 to 7 Year 219 of Human Arrival

  • Party group: Luther, Narcan, Putz, Uvarum, Kursk, Imlazor, Malas and NPC Kursk   Anansimon 4th to the 7th Celebrated at Boggs Landing the rescue/release of prisoners. Brand declared to be shield warrior to Kursk. Boggs Landing leader, Baron Maynor, requests the group to take a letter to Hastsel King. Medwin our NPC cleric decides to retire from adventure life. Luther growls at him, "Likes the glory and gold but no guts for the guts and gore!". Make it to Hastsel and pass off letter to the king, who seems not to care. Part of group goes to local library to scurry among blasted dusty musty books to learn anything about lost elf colony. The rest of us crew are looking for some drink when we pass what looks to be a "Gandalf", local slang for vagabond mage tricksters that wander from town to town and sometimes chased from town. Dang burned Erde tattoo got an itching and we just got to follow this feller. Now Kursk, no idea what it means to follow casual like. So he just blows right into the store this Gandalf type entered, asked some questions and next thing Gandalf is a gone like snap. I think Putz put the eye on this fellers mule and cart, happens to find an old odd leather book. Reads like some journal thing and some crew planning to off Aginor the dragon, including some mage named Meino. By Aule's Nads that sounds like interesting. So somebody thinking right, thinks the mule will lead us to our "Gandalf" camp and gave it a gidda-yup. Around out to the country we go, for a good day. Got attacked once by three bees as big as the mule itself. Those got buzz-it splat right quick.

  • Party group: Luther, Uvarum, Kursk, Imlazor, Malas and NPC Kursk   Anansimon 7th to 14th The mule, leading the group right to an old sturdy small barn. Imlazor goes chat up a farm family we see nearby who say they get paid to take care of the mule when the owner is around who matches the description of who we seen. Luther finds a trail from the barn and it ends at a clearing. Imlazor believes that a magic house used to be here and then notices the group being watched magically, scrying is what he says it is. Next morning, Uvarum says he got a message from a bird from Fandae telling group to head north to meet Ildrane, elf lord of Ildranes Grove, a settlement to learn about humans.   Meet Ildrane the high lord himself. Nice enough to give us all nice elvish cloaks with elvish magic to help hide. Luther was polite enough to not tell him he was wasting some good cloth with this motley crew. Ildrane only had passing knowledge of a lost elf colony in the swamp and heard vague rumors of some orb they allegedly used. Imlazor spent some time reading that old book and found out some crew did attack Aginor but they failed. The name Meino came up and story was from about 100 years ago, Meino survived but was cursed or tainted in some fashion.   Head back south to Hastsel by way of Ramoth Creek to chat with the Baron there. Got him informed of what goblins are doing, the rescue of some prisoners. Luther suggests, if he had not done so, the Baron send letters to coordinate help with Ildrane and Skodorak against the goblin raiders. GADzooks, heading back to Hastsel to once again go thru musty dusty library to find any tales or stories about Meino but only found bare general information. Luther decides got better things for his time, and was correct. Met with a fine slender human lass barmaid, she of long black hair named Liesl, next morning she said come back and see her again when it town.

    North to Great Swamp - Find Evanora and The Grand Rescue
    Aulemon 21 to 28, Year 219 of Human Arrival

    -Game session date - 24-Aug-2019   Aulemon 23rd to 26th/219 of Human Arrival   Rest for a few days, and discuss the swamp with Evanora, swamp witch with bewitched kobolds for servants and some as cats. At one point she is discussing about an old lost elven city/colony in the swamps, then becomes seemingly lost in thought and starts talking of "You must use the Orb, find the Orb". By Aule's nads that was odd thinks Luther. Evanora was upset and disturbed when she came to with no memory of what just happened and no clue about the Orb. So disturbed that Evanora decided to shag with Kursk by turning herself into a female orc. (Note: this was after Luther offered a nice smoke of Gnomish Clover and private time with her, not he will ever admit it). Next morning, traded 2 bags of Gnomish Clover with Evanora for magic Alarm Stone. Slog thru swamp on a poor trail per directions from Evanora, who thinks will not be seeing us again. However, I, Luther led the party true and we found the "DropOff point", where previous captured goblins stated those captured in raids were collected. It was a scrubby clearing surrounded by two streams, with several poor rough leather/brush shelters showing in the foggy/misty gloom.   -Game session date: 07-Sept-2019   Aulemon 27th Decide to need to rescue the captured from the raiders. With Luther leading first the sneak in, and then the charge, Luther, Kursk, Putz attack the guards backed up by Imlazor, Bawdy and Uvarum along with Medwin. Killed 20-30 goblin raiders, and rescue an orc male, 14 humans of which 6 are women. We then discover two more groups of baddies watching us, a group of kobolds to the east across the stream and another group of lizardmen to north of stream. They just stand and had watched us wipe out the goblins and loot the tents. The orc male, goes by name of Brand, in hero worship to Kursk, pleads allegiance to Kursk to be mentor to Brand.   -Game session date: 21-Sept-2019 Group heads back south, with Putz checking backtrail for any pursuit. Fight off 12 centipedes in night camp and ambush 2 goblin hunting pair, that Luther coup-de-grace both. After several days of force marching(or did we sail?), make it to Boggs Landing to a heroes welcome.  

    Journey North to the Great Swamp
    Aulemon 17 to 20, Year 219 of Human Arrival

    Aulemon 17th   Stay in Boggs landing to watch a fellow dwarf hang for crimes, embarrassment to great race of dwarves. I sent along message to his kin folk of his demise. Group rested and learned some spells. Uvarum and myself chatted around for anyone with good knowledge of lands leading to swamp. Not much other than no one goes there. Go to sleep grumpy.   Aulemon 18th rent a boat to take us north a days sailing. tried to rob us with stated price but came down half, 5gp, which still too much but group wanted to get going. Landed on shore and spent a quiet evening in small overhang.   Aulemon 19th marching along shore just next to scrub, when spotted a goblin bunch heading south toward us. I was able to get my bumblers to move back a bit and get in place for ambush. We sure got them good. Uvarum dropped a nice entangly spell behind the stinkers to make hard for them to escape. Kursk gets a bloody shower as usual in chopping down the goblins. A couple tried to get away but Putz and Imlazor shot down one on left side of battle, while Uvarum and Bawdy chase down and capture a goblin on right side. We ask them questions, they from Snogg village and looking to capture humans but not much more of worth from the stinkers mouth. So we render justice for being a stinker and killed the goblin. By days end, march is getting muddy and wet on the feeble path trying to follow.   Aulemon 20th Slogging thru near swamp now. Uvarum and I make up some forest remedies to keep off the biting bugs as best we can. Lost trail once and had to back track a bit with help of slobber wolf , NozDrull, to find it. Right before stopping for camp, we see a hut of a house in a pool of water with a small bridge to it. See a few feral cats wandering around in odd sort of fashion. Given all the warnings from the town, is this a friend or a foe. Group decides to take the bold (and future suicidal) approach to walk up and knock, even as Imlazor detects some magic on the bridge. As doing so, an old woman opens up a window and says her name is Evanora and for us to come in and don't disturb her magic spell on the bridge. I has a bad feeling about this but in we go.

    To Skodorak and Boggs Landing
    Aulemon 12 to 16, Year 219 of Human Arrival

    12th of Aulemon.

    Following morning after party with the Baron, surprisingly there was no morning dawn raid to seize Imlazor after he outed himself as a human mage. Meet with Putz, Uvarum, Dawdy and Imlazor to decide next actions and agreed on going to Skodorak but have to find Kursk first. Took all morning and finally tracked him down bathing in water trough outside town smithy, looking like he been rode hard and thrown away. See a full blood female orc appear, Tugma was her name and she seemed a bit zealous over our approach to Kursk. Kursk explained we were battle comrades and left with us north to Skodorak.   Stopped over at the midway rest stop tavern inn, the owner was very happy to see us as he had no customers at all. Get treated very well and relayed that business had been very scarce since the last caravan came thru "but certain that things would change". He had not heard of any goblins raiding or of any missing people but this is the wilderness. We kept one person on watch plus Uvarum and his wolf Noz-drull would be outside in the stable. A couple of travelers showed up around midnite, a woman and a fighter. Imlazor was on watch and thinks he recognized the woman as Ziva the necro-mage. He keeps all secret until we leave in the morning, Kursk wanted to go back and fight but convinced him otherwise it likely be death for us all. We instead watched the inn to see if anything happens, but the two leave midday. Bawdy goes back to inn on her horse to see if the inn workers ok which they were as nothing happened. So onto the north with no other events.   Kursk leads us to the leader, titled as Thane, Khadakh. We asked about trade to Ramoth Creek and he openly stated King Hastel is lazy idiot who does nothing and no longer trades to Ramoth Creek. He also laughs as thought of goblins coming his way to capture orcs. Kursk pushes it is serious business, so Thane Khadak agrees to increase patrols. Then listens to Kursk "great" adventures and glory of combat versus overwhelming numbers of goblins. and over and over and over the story is repeated. Uvarum and Putz get bored and split. Luther notices the large banner with green dragon and asks the Khadakh about it. He says it is protector of clan and Skodorak. and SHE answers to the Thane. By the beard of Aule, that is a nads shocker. The group finds an inn run by humans to rest, Kursk go finds some friends at an orc inn and tells his tale all night while buying the drinks. Luther tries his luck and ends up with another human tavern bar-wench for the night.  

    13th of Aulemon.

    Group gathers back together next morning and double time it back to Baron at Ramoth, briefly resting at halfway inn to tell owner of the embargo. Back at the town, Baron insists Kursk shows up. After a few minutes of seeing Kursk in meeting only with the Baron, Rose and a few guards, Baron understands why the party keeps Kursk away, and give diplomatic hint to Putz and Imlazor to keep him away. We get away from Baron's manor without damaging much.  

    14th of Aulemon.

    Head to Boggs Landing next as rumor some ships are couple days late. We get NPC cleric named Medwin, who wants to "do more" for the world and joins our group. At Boggs Landing the goblins raids are not yet news and no one concerned on ships late, it happens. We set up in an inn close to the docks and decide to rest a bit. Late in afternoon, a sailor staggers into our inn saying been attacked and ship aground on reef, lighthouse in wrong spot. Some nearby soldiers start to get a defense ready but will not go out to the lighthouse, so we get a boat and two sailors to help us. Find a fake timber tower further inland, head to real light tower. There we find most of family viciously murdered and light mirror shattered. See on reef a ship crashed and hear voices in fog, set out in our boat and see a small boat being pulled underwater. We close the gap and the reptilian humanoids, lizard folk, attack and nearly tip our boat over. Luckily we killed them and saved 6-8 sailors tied up in the other boat. Heading to ship to see if any other survivors.   PART 2 and the volley or folly of 1's The 8 sailors we rescued are in mostly decent shape and able to help row our boats, so we split the sailors and the party into the 2 boats to head back to the foundering ship. Despite efforts from Luther and Kursk, unable to throw rope anchors to the ship as sees just too choppy(the start of the roll of 1's). Then Luther notices another boat coming to the ship from out of the fog with a crew of three humanoids. We head to them and announce our presence, they look startled and one shoots off a crossbow bolt at Kursk, wounding him. Kursk ignores our calls to not attack, throws a spear back and nails the bowman. They quickly turn around their boat and row furiously away like a devil was chasing them losing them in the fog, our crew of sailors could not keep pace, evidently worn down by events of the fight and then capture . Fortunately, our caster Uvarum got off a faerie fire spell that illuminated the other groups boat, and after a couple minutes we saw the boat on shore. Our party beached and we had the 8 sailors shove off to water to keep watch. Luther was able to track the trio to a grassy sandy area but nobody saw the low built hut nor the 4 archers on the roof who let fly with a volley of arrows, scoring a couple of hits. Kursk charged in a rage and burst the hut door open to see three more attackers. The rest of group moved to engage in combat counterattack only to see multiple 1's rolled. WTF! Kursk and the Uvarum's wolf Noz-Drull kill two of three in ground floor, while Luther wounds the third to point that Kursk demolishes him. Kursk roars in challenge and climbs ladder to the roof for more combat. Meanwhile, Imalazor is subjected to two sleep spells from unseen caster, while Uvarum and Bawdy take arrow wounds. Putz trades arrows back at the baddie archer. Meanwhile, Kursk beheads a rooftop archer in a welter of raining blood but also sustains multiple wounding hits. Luther moves thru the hut to the back door and circles around to find the "supposed" archer but its actually a female caster, he is able to get two high HP attacks in. The real archer is a dwarf attacking Imlazor and Medwin(npc cleric) and seeing more screams from rooftop of his comrades being rended by Kursk with assistance from Uravum, this dwarf takes off. Putz and Imlazor are able to catch this dwarf thief and force a surrender. Meanwhile, Kursk is barely alive and gets immediate medical attention from Medwin and Uvarum to save his life before his rage wears off. The dwarf thief says he and his crew were hired by the caster, she had the deal with lizardmen. The lizardmen would capture the sailors and the dwarf crew would salvage cargo from the ships. They had wrecked and plundered four ships in total. He also says the lizardmen had a deal to sell the captured humans to the goblins(???) in the swamp. We then destroyed the fake light tower that lured ships onto the reef.  

    15th of Aulemon.

    We get our 10 sailors and for a whole share split to the 10 of them, help us load up the three boats with booty and ship it back to Boggs Landing for the selling. There we turn over the dwarf to the authorities, give our testimony along with the 8 captured/freed sailors. There was great rejoicing and big party that next night for those who stayed. Luther found another human female to teach him about "relations". Some members of the group headed out to the real lighthouse to try and lure in the lizardmen and ambush them. However, they had no luck that night.  

    16th of Aulemon.

    All the party is together for another night in the lighthouse, with one of the casters using a cantrip of human female voices talking. This evidently worked as Putz signaled he sees a group of lizardmen sneaking up to the lighthouse. As they reached the door, Kursk roars a challenge and charges out the door to the right. Luther follows and goes to the left, the rest of the party filling in as Putz shots arrows from up top. We face 10 lizardmen and our folly nearly killed us, Kursk and Luther roll multiple 1's over several rounds while taking vicious attacks from claw/claw/bite . Bawdy and Uvarum take risks to clear a path for Medwin to heal Kursk as he gets surrounded but is healed just in time. Putz continues to score hits but has a run of rolled 1's as well. Meanwhile, Luther is also surrounded, rolls double 1's for attacks and then dropped to -6 on multiple hits and bleeding out. At this point 6 of the 10 lizardmen are also dropped but Bawdy, Imlazor and Noz-Drull are seriously wounded. Luther goes -7. Uvarum and Putz able to open a spot for Medwin to get to Luther, -8. Medwin is able to finally get a heal spell activated and stabilize Luther. Kursk, Putz and Uvarum are able to defeat the last pair of lizardmen. A close call for Luther and bad day for the group of "heroes" is averted.   Final note: Luther goes to the condemned-for-execution dwarf thief, gets his family name to send a last note to them of his poor demise.   Session results: 500 xp and lots of cash, plus upgraded weapons to MasterWork for several characters. <end of session>    

    Family Returned - Hail the Heroes - Meet the Baron of Ramoth Creek
    9th to 11th of Aulemon, Year 219 of Human Arrival

    9th of Aulemon.

    After the battle with the raiders and freeing the family, group quickly agreed that haste was in order with the one hob-goblin let go. That was doubled when a hidey spot was found and foot prints of another goblin leaving the area. Luck on our side the stinker hob goblin was full of coward juice as our captive hobbie gobbie caster said that one was the leader. Healed up as best we could, took anything of value from the dead, loaded family on horses to force march south and west to human civvy lands and the coast in hopes seeing a boat or some other friendly types. Imlazor dropped his elfie disguise to show off it was human magic that saved the family, they did not look happy about that. The militia looked a bit spooked also. Dammit, not a good time but still took some stones to do so.   Putz volunteered to watch back trail for any signs of pursuit. Made decent time as encountered no issues, though we come near to a nasty thing that Uvarum stated was an Assassin Vine, its tendril thingies hanging around to snatch a creature stumbling into it. Gave it a wide berth I do tell ya. Putz caught up and saw no signs of pursuit. Found a nice hidey thicket that night and by Aule's fortune night was quiet. Well by Aule's Thunderation, found my swords, Fang and Claw, in wrong scabbards. That big stinker hob goblin must rung my bell a bit, as certain put them back correctly, when I cleaned them before sleeping. Next day, hit the shore and made good time south and saw tides rolling in would cover bunches of our tracks. And look at all that water, thats something to see. Again, no pursuit and we had a quiet night. Though there is some sneaky stinker in the group, they chomped up all the leftovers on fire that was for dawns' feast or breakfast as the humans call it. Bet it was that Droolz mutt, stupid elf named flea farm of a wolf. It looked a bit fat, so I gave it a stink eye and farted as I walks by it. We reached what we figured more safe lands and family asked to head to their farm, wanted to pack up and move closer to town. Its TOOO dangerous on the "frontier", DUHHHHH, foolish mud rakers, what did they think might happen. We packed them up and then got to some serious work in getting information out of our captive, helping Imlazor as the stinker could only converse in orcish. He was full of bluster and such, before I asked how is fingers are working. He called us names and still acting all tough, then I dislocated one of his fingers. Aye, its a painful thing but better than being broken and he started talking, so I popped finger back in place. His clan leader, Snogg of Thogmeister clan, has ordered several raiding parties to keep favor with the blackie dragon, Aginor. Not liking the sound of that. Also, said dragon minions are Black Kobolds, like they are different. Dont like that either. Got to give Imlazor some credit, he looked a bit squeamish about finger dislocation but knew it was needed. Another quiet night but this time better, under a roof with pile of hay for a bed and full belly of food.  

    10th of Aulemon.

    Next day entered Ramoth Creek, and the humans started whooping and hollering when rescue story was told by family and the five militia. Turned over captive to town constable for more questioning, who seemed to be happy about it. Then led to a good tavern by our militia who wanted to buy our group a round or two of drinks. Sounded good to me to drink a good foaming ale. Oh and a Baron messenger invited us to dinner next evening. Good thing on that as I was not about to leave. By Aule's Beard on Fire, human women as many different as stones in a flowing creek. What a wide variety! Tall, Medium, Short. Broad, slender, plump. And hair of blonde, red, black. Dwarf females are in two sizes: stocky and more stocky. And then the human females peculiar habit of giggling. Peaked my interest and one of the barmaids seemed to be just as interested, Jenelle was her name and she was a curvy lass top and bottom. So I bought her a drink or two after which she whispered in my ear if we could "talk" in privacy of my room with a giggle and a wink. We "talked" a few times that night and she was energetic and enthusiastic before taking her leave. And I was a bit more educated about humans. Ha!  

    11th of Aulemon.

    Before we left for dinner with the Baron, Putz sidetracked Kursk with task of getting reading to behead the goblin captive, said he needed to practice. Pretty sneaky move by him, I expect he was worried Kursk murdering someone at the manor...... or murdering them in order to eat them. Come to find out Kursk got sidetracked some more, Kursk after practicing with axe, sees a pure female orc, convinced her to "breed" with Kursk to bear strong sons.   So only Putz, Imlazor and Uvarum was with me, Luther, to the manor house with Uvarum looking nervous and Imlazor tense and back in elfie disguise. Baron Welton was not what I expected, he was polite and..... nice. He thanked us for saving his subjects as well as information about more raids. He then introduced us to his wife Cora, a pleasant looking and charming woman, and three offspring during dinner. Rosamund his daughter around 15 or 16, very pretty, even more charming than her mother and seemed very intelligent. Kellen, a right stout lad of 14 who was knowing of fighting skills and learning to be a captain of men at arms. Then Stark the young boy, and by Aule's Anvil, he just knew something about everything and could talk and talk. I swear my ears were hurting and left Putz to chat him up while I eye-wandered a bit and starting comparing Cora and Rosamund with Jenelle...... and Rosamund caught me staring, she gave a slow wink and sly smile. By Aule's Hammer and Anvil, I turned red and proceeded to get my pipe to calm me down when Baron agreed time for a good smoke and led us all to a smoking room as he called it. WHAT, who needs a separate room to smoke in. I was just about calmed down when Imlazor started making fancy smoke "rings", except in squares and triangles, obviously showing off his magicy skills. Then I saw Rosamund look around and did then same.... but she was NOT smoking!!!!! That startled Imlazor and started a long low voiced conversation with her. What Thunderation of Aule is going on. Shortly after that, the Baron asked about Kursk and wanted to chat with him about why his clan chief is directing more trade traffic down the river instead of using trail to Ramoth Creek. Then "the party" was politely announced as being was over and we left. As we chatted amongst ourselves, Imlazor admitted to outing himself to Rosamund as a human wizard. By Aule's balls, I am thinking not the time nor the place. Also, we figured they were checking us out more than just "thanks for the rescue". Not liking the sound of that. I am thinking better be sleeping tonight with Fang and Claw close by. Heck, I think I will sneak out to the tavern stable hay loft to sleep, JUST IN CASE!  

    Continuing Erde Mission - Rescue Family from hob goblin raiders
    8th of Aulemon, Year 219 of Human Arrival

    By all da gods and Aule's mighty beard, that was a close disaster for us "heroes" <snort>, nearly got wiped out. How ya say? Well letz me's tell ya.   Out in the forest trying to determine best to get to swamp and figure out reason of Erde's angst and concern. Then Uvarum went bird brain to chat up a starling, said it was from Fandae and that a family living just north of whatsum Creek been kidnapped by stinking goblin raiders. Group tried to head off the raiders. Spent time zig zaggin and such, running into some trouble of giant spiders, climbing trees to see any sign and thought we got lucky, Putz Mister spied a thin column of fire smoke north. Off we go, and cut the trail of some goblins but no human feets. We ended up lucky all right, bad lucky, got our arses ambushed by 8 stinker hob gobbies who right bashed Uvarum to brink o'dying. We killed all 8 but most group was hurt bad and Uvarum only healer and he needed helped. Giv up the chase of rescue, no shape for it, to head back to town, ended up going thru the raided family farm. Tended to the animals and helped to some cheese and milk since going to spoil anyway. Ranmoth Creek leaders helped out with some healing, got some magic heal potions, and local constable told us the Baron wanted to meet with us. This group was not having it, had to try to rescue that human family. Told constable the Baron had to wait!!!!!! har har har, bet that don't sit well when Baron gets told. And we got five locals from militia to help out, couple of them archers. Turns out that was lucky.   Headed back the scene of the crime at the family farm, found a second trail of goblins and figures the feet prints of human family, except they headed more east, the other 8 we hit was a trick ruse. Those stinkers pretty sneaky. And even more sneaky, as we tracked them with myself, Uvarum and his wolf leading the way, they tried a couple of traps to give us some harm and damage. One was a snare and another set to drop a foursome of alchemist fire on the poor sod. But we were better than theys was. HA! Even salvaged the nasty alchey fire. But crowed a bit much too soon later to find out. Still tracking and we slowly catching up, smell the sea air and worriedz not goint to catch up, when come blazing back on the trail at us some young boy, running like his life depended on it. And it did. He gasped out his family just up trail, and he got away, about 20 goblins with a few or so chasing him. We set up ambush and bagged four of them. Group went for the bold approach and sneak down the trail, Bawdy was able to scout a bit-tish, said goblins stinkers were alert and wary. Alert they were and some in the party are klunkers so Kursk got the jump on his charge..... which turned to be mistake-ish. He got six around him, stabbing and hacking before we could catch up to join in the fray and starting gutting some stinkers. Kursk raged and stomped but dropped like a big timber tree, even as I tried to hack and even the odds, my own attempts pretty feeble and the numbers of goblins kept me hounded. Bawdy and Imlazor also drop after theys two toss javelins and those alchey fires. Luckily, the militia had thems some backbone and two spearman helped me hold the middle of the brawl, while Putz Mister directed the two archers and himself in picking off goblins with arrow volleys. Some good shooting. Just thought we doing good, a biggun hob goblin leader comes up and rings my bell, stabbling me twice in serious hurt. Uvarum's wolf Druulz (stupid name, just like an elf as papa would say) did good in biting the stinkers and protecting his master who healed the wounded. The stinker goblins were getting mauled dead,until only one left, threatening the humans family baby. Bawdy and Imlazor confabbed with this stinker and convince him to let baby go, he can go. And by Aule's beard, thats what happened.   What a poor sight we are, all bloody and bandaged. It twas luckiest of a brawl, closing in on getting KILLT, we was. Gotta have a talk to these cupcakes, just becuz a god did some minor blessuns on us-uns, we peoples not invul-burnable.   Gotta rest first and smoke me pipe, let the smoke do its work. BY FIRE IN AULE'S BEARD, big stinker goblin stabbed in my tobacco pouch and bled on it. <Heavy sigh> YOLO so ROLO!

    Erde Mission - heading to swamp
    5th of Aulemon, Year 219 of Human Arrival

    Even though Kursk in the head is like a pea pod with no peas, does make a beefy swing in a fight, like a butcher chopping meat. Definitely not afraid to get bloody and mix it up. Bawdy is such nincompoop in the woods, have to point out how to avoid nasty brush like nettles and poison ivy. Uvarum seems to know his druid stuff but Imlazor seems less magey and more trickster like.   Well, so far still alive despite starving wolves, and a bash up with several undead plus a low life scum human fighter at run down hunter shack. Not happy about a damn spook mage that creates dead to undead, leave the dead as they be. Many deserve to no longer be living. Imlazor and Uvarum think this necromancer spook pretty skilled and tough to make undead and should avoid this person. Need to get some clerics involved to take this problem on. Likely more than us bunch of losers can handle.   Also, Uvuram's woodsy hugger elf buddy, Fandae, mighty concerned taking us a jaunt to this region of the dragon Aginor, I heard of this dragon but not much else. But I can see his point. Got a bad feeling about this.

    First day on the Job - Erde mission

    Confounding mash up, if Aule had not spoken for Erde, might just not agree to this mission. Nearly ready to hack of arm of stupid half-orc that came rumbling up, and grabbing my arm. And grouping with couple of sissy namby elf's, Uvarum and Putzmeister, papa said no accounting for elves what they just might take a bad view upon. Plus gotta wanna-be-elf human Imlazor, sheesh supposedly magicy caster. Not sure if gonna make it. The human, Bawdy, seems bit high strung female. Sad party to be grouping together, me included. And WE are gonna save the world?!!?!? I would say gods laughing in jest if not for Aule visit. Got go smoke my pipe and calms me down somes.
