Vesterland

Region of Viltland east of the Caltsee. Vesterland was settled by humans who came into Ettrea from across the Atlan Mountains during the The War of the Elves and the Giants. Unlike most of the human immigrants who wanted to stay in Ettrea, and the few who went to serve the Giants, the men who settled Vesterland wanted to stay independent of both Elves and Giants.
Vesterland has traditionally been a land with little central authority. Most power sits in the hands of local chiefs and earls, even when there has been a crowned king. In the last couple of centuries, several kings have moved to centralise power. Vesterland has also slowly moved from worship of the Old Gods . Relations with The Empire have improved as have relations with Synnopeia.
The last king was Truvann, slain in battle against the Gnolls five years ago. The ancient crown of Vesterland was lost in the same battle.
