The Second Godswar

The Second Godswar was the conflict between those of the New Gods who became The Celestial Pantheon and those who became The Devils.
The New Gods brought new races to Erdde, among them Humans and Hobgoblins. And they quickly introduced themselves to the native races, especially the Elves. Some of the New Gods wanted to teach these mortals, but others wanted to let them develop independently. This schism was the cause of the Second Godswar.
The Devils were those of the New Gods who wanted to teach the mortal races. The Gods of the Celestial Pantheon were those who wanted to allow them to develop at their own pace.
The Gods of the Celestial Pantheon won the war. The Devils were banished to the Nine Hells and forbidden from coming to Erdde.
Although the non-interventionist faction won the war, the mortal races learned much from these immortals. Without the New Gods of both factions, there would have been no Old Empire.
