Former County of Martel

The land west of the County of Estwater , south of Caltsee and north of the Great East Road was formerly the County of Martel.
The Counts of Martel were High Elves, descended from kings of the Old Empire. The family were noted triarchists and lost everything in the Triarchist Crusade.
The counts ruled the Kingdom of Martel during the Old Empire, but the kingdom was destroyed at the start of the The War of the Elves and the Giants. Those few high elves from the kingdom who survived the war created the much smaller County of Martel. Most of what had been the Kingdom of Martel became in time the Kingdom of Sigsland.
