Adalbard

The fourth Emperor of the New Empire and King of Prunzinn. He came to the imperial throne following the death of his father, the Emperor Clodic.
Adalbard was a bad ruler. He lost the support of the Mountain Dwarves following a series of insults and for a time the dwarves declared themselves independent of the New Empire. Adalbard wanted to raise armies from every kingdom to invade the Atlan Mountains and bring the dwarves forcibly back into the Empire. However, this was a massively unpopular move both among the common folk of the Empire and the nobility. Even more unpopular among the nobility was Adalbard's determination that his oldest son,Clodoard succeed him as emperor. Added to this was Adalbard's repuatation as a womaniser. It may be that he seduced the queens and daughters of more than one of his kings.
Several kings of the empire rebelled against Adalbard's rule in the so-called 'Kings' Rebellion' and after three years of civil war, Adalbard was forced to sue for peace. He was deposed as emperor but allowed to remain as King of Prunzinn. Clodoard succeeded him as King, but not as Emperor.
