Gith (gith)

What can be said of the fractured gith. Not much is known about them even by their own people. They number very few here on Andoros and there are fewer still that are willing to divulge information on their origins. However there are a few things that have been gleaned over the years.

Biological Traits

Their speckled skin tones are generally yellow, green, or brown. They poses slender efficient physiques and keen minds. It is uncertain weather it is from selective breading, altered genetics, or some vestige of the original species all gith posses some form of psychic ability.

Gith are made up of two separate groups of peoples with their own ideals traditions and culture, the Githyanki and the Githzerai. It is a common held belief of both groups that they were once a united people but the reason for the divide is unclear.

Civilization and Culture

History

The origin of the gith race before their enslavement was largely unknown. Not even the original name of the race was remembered, but it was referred to by some as "the progenitors". Some sources claimed that they were originally humans from a far off word. In all accounts, the progenitors had at some point become slaves of the illithids, a race devoted to mentally dominating sentient humanoids to work as the backbone of their vast empire, and were transformed through selective breeding and genetic experiments for several millennia.
A hero arose amongst the progenitors and struck down their illithid masters. This heroes name was Gith and so the progenitors took this as their own name. Gith led their people to the astral plane where they could start anew. Some time later a schism occurred between the two factions and they split. The Githyanki continue to this day in the Astral Sea crusading against the illithids while the Githzerai journeyed to The Ever Changing Chaos to seek mental, spiritual, and physical perfection.
