Unending Entropy

An ancient creature of silent destruction, the black warrior known to most as the Unending Entropy is a sight of dread to those that behold him. Clad in heavy, charcoal black armour and draped in torn, withered cloth, chainmail and the withered pelt of a great direwolf. His form reveals no human visage beneath. Only black, heavy smoke that our out from beneath the gaps of his armour like slow water.   To many he is nothing more than a terrifying ghost story, told around campfires all around Kingdom of Evangil and featured in novels in need of a villain. But to the scholars of the Aurora Academia and Kulmataz Observatory , he is akin to a force of nature. In texts dating all the back to the founding of the Kingdom the Unending Entropy appears again and again, seemingly at random. His appearance is the herald of some great tragedy, either committed by his own hands or only orchestrated by him.   It is theorised by historians that his first appearance was at the death of Eliza the Wise, before the Kingdom had been properly formed. He then disappeared and has since resurfaced again and again, striking targets who's importance only he could know, sometime fading into myth and not being seen for decades or centuries.
The creature feared as the Unending Entropy was originally just a man called Wuunferth Blackmantle. He was the loyal guardian of Eliza the Wise during her divine journey to found what would become the city known as Elustria. In secret, the two would build a loving relationship over the years and while they never married, he guarded her side for decades as she became the leader of the North.   But as the city grew and Elizas position became more stabile, Wuunferth became her last vunerability and the last chance for the agents of The Death King to throw the growing city-state into strife and violance.   Wuunferth was fooled and under the dark magic of the Death King came to believe his bellowed Eliza was an impostor and that the real Eliza had been killed by their enemies. In a rage he slew Eliza, and as the sword struck he realized he had been controlled. His despair was deep and endless, and as Elizas life left her eyes she forgave him. But his heart was broken and the love of his life dead in his hands, so he took his own life.   But the machinations of the Death King did not end there, for all of this was to grant him a new servant, a powerful agent of death and destruction that was not of devil blood and would be impossible for the gods of the Pantheon to trace back to the Death King. So it was that the soul of Wuunfurth Blackmantle was reborn as a Death Knight bound to the control of the Lord of all Hells.
