Arcane Magic

Summary

Present since time immemorial, arcane energies have flown through the world. Though these energies were never meant to be part of the world, Taika's interference left a permanent mark. A part of her was permanently infused, causing the arcane energies. This also causes the deleterious effects of using magic. Taika's essence isn't pure, and handling it will have a negative effect on mortals. As a result of this, the shaping and altering of arcane energies generally involved in casting spells can over time cause mutations and mental side effects.

Natural Energies

The arcane energies flow through several loci of power, with it's source on The Dread Isles. During the creation of the world, it is said that the isles are where Taika touched the world. When she touched the world, a small part of her was infused into the world. Energy flows from loci to loci and spreads out from them. At these loci, unusual things tend to occur. An example of a loci is in the city of Kalyon. This loci's energies have caused a piece of the earth to lose and float stably in the air. However, this also causes some areas to lack any form of arcane energy, being too far away from any loci. This makes everyone unable to cast spells as they lack any form of fuel.

Schools of Magic

There are eight schools of magic. Each specialized in something, though it generally doesn't have exclusive access to the effect. There are some exceptions, such as Tenebrimancy which is the only school who delves into peoples mind. For instance, lightning-based spells are most common within Aeromancy, but a skilled Pyromancer can achieve the same effect but goes about it a different way and has a lot harder time doing so. While Aeromancy can naturally create storms and with it, lightning, a pyromancer needs to superheat something, to the point of creating plasma, which it can shape to lighting.
