Velvet Gauntlet
A mercenary company and spy network that formed when Ashara Longstrider (a former prostitute turned soldier) and her company of women irregulars refused to return home to their husbands and shattered homelands after the last war between Nordwind and Suthland, known as the Clash of Crowns , 100 years ago. The Velvet Gauntlet has chapters all over the continents of Toth and Asariya. The most well known of these is the Fist of Dawn in the Eastmarch Highlands, (though it is not the largest, only the most central). The current “Hand” at the Fist of Dawn is Nerrith Ashdown, a veteran of the Battle of Diamond Pass and former city guard.
The primary business of the Velvet Gauntlet involves security and hired sword work, though they have been known to retrieve lost artifacts and dangerous magic items. They also rumored to maintain an active spy network but are very selective about selling and trading information. The founders lived through the Clash of Crowns and have a vested interest in never seeing a brutal war like that erupt again.
The Velvet Gauntlet welcomes all worthy fighters and adventurers who identify as femme or non-binary, no matter their background.
