Demographics
Since ponville was created by the apple family, its inhabitants are mostly earth ponies but over the years many unicorns and pegasi have moved there.
Government
Mayor Mare is in charge of everything in Ponyville. I believe The apple family used to be in charge to some extent but have completly stopped now to focus on their farms and family members.
Industry & Trade
The Apple family farm and the "Rich" family buisness are the most important buisnesses in Ponyville.
Most ponies sell crops and supplies.
Two small notable buisnesses are the Carousel Boutique which sells clothes, and Sugarcube corner the bakery.

The apple family were the first to live here.
History
When Granny Smith was a filly, her family (the apple family) were travelers that had no home and sold fruit seeds to get by. When they came to Canterlot, Princess Celestia granted the Apple Family land near the Everfree Forest, where Granny Smith and her family planted their first apple orchard. Soon after they settled they ran out of food. Becuase of this Granny Smith decided to head into the everfree forest assuming there must be something edible since animals live there. She discovered these special trees that had rainbow coloured apples.
When the Granny Smith returned home with a bag full of apples, she and her father planted the first "Zap apple" seeds. Drawn in by the jam made from the unique fruit, other ponies started coming to the land, such as Stinkin' Rich, Diamond Tiara's grandfather, who started a small market that sold Zap Apple Jam. Soon after the town was built and many ponies had moved there.

The town celebrates the Ponyville Days Festival, which celebrates the town's founding. A "pony of ceremonies" is selected to organize the event according to a theme of their choosing.

Because the town was founded by Earth ponies, they had to clean up winter by hoof instead of by magic. In the present day, Ponyville still does the "Winter Wrap-up" as a town tradition; in Winter Wrap Up, Twilight says Ponyville has done this for "hundreds of years" (which was seemingly contradicted by Granny Smith's later story of the founding of Ponyville).

Ponyville participates in the Equestria Games every year.
Tourism
Ponyville is definatly not a tourist attraction, although when the castle of friendship and the school of friendship opens lots more ponies come to see where the new princess teaches and lives.
The only notable place that ponies might take an interest in is Carousel Boutique becuase Rarity has sold her clothes to famous designers and pop stars but she doesnt have her name very well known yet.

Pink doors sometimes with heart shaped windows.
Colourful flags and circus inspired tents, stone statues and fountains the shape of earth ponies.
Geography
Ponyville is bordered by the Everfree Forest. There is also a tall mountain thats within walking distance of the town.
Canterlot's mountain is visible from the town. On a map it shows that Ponyville's location is close to Cloudsdale, Canterlot, and the Everfree Forest. .
There is a river that flows through Ponyville. A dam is situated near the edge of a waterfall, upstream of the town.
A short distance from ponyville there is a dead area with caves of jewels.
