It took Pinkie Pie a very long time to figure out what she wanted to do with her life, she felt like a failure and an embarassment for not knowing, when talking to her sisters about it they didnt seem to care since they would inherit the farm, only Maud comforted her since she had a dream of being a rock explorer in the future.
Her family didnt believe in her dreams of party planning and often told her to forget about it, they didnt understand why she kept making parties for them and always lectured her on why this wasnt good for her, this convinced pinkie pie to believe that her family knew what was best for her. Her family found her to be too positive, hyper and strange. She is always insecure of her self worth and what she has to offer other people. Her family also treated her like a baby and felt she couldnt be resposible for anything so they always babied her and helped her more than she needed.
Her older sister Muad suggested moving away from the farm so she could live out her dreams of being a party planner, it was that warmth and support that encouraged her to do so.
When she moved to poyville away from her family she really grew into her skin and became confident in herself.
She made friends with every pony in order to make sure everyone thought of her in a good light.
Her insecurities come back to her sometimes, for example when her friends were planning a suprise secret party for her, she assumed the worst and thought her friends thought she was weird like her family had done.
She tries to prove her resposibility and maturity by helping mr and mrs cake with raising their foals and helping transport their prize winning cake to canterlot. She also does all this out of happiness and pure love of her new family and friends.
When she met Rainbow Dashs childhood friend Gilda, she chose to see the best in Gilda and not judge her, she believes that Rainbow Dash would only have good hearted friends so it must be herself thinking poorly of Gilda.
