Woodland Forest
"Even when you travel the world, it is always nice to have a place to call home. And what better place than a peaceful one where to which you can always come back to" - Norret fleetfoot, halfling bard and cartographer
The Woodland Forest is a most peculiar place, as it houses two distinct regions, each inhabited by completely different races. Though both parts have luxurious vegetation and more hilly terrain, the western part of the forest has more canyons and valleys as well as a more subtropical nature, housing the High Elves, while the Eastern Part is more coniferous and with large open parts near the great Lake Bungo, housing the Halfling population.
Legend has it that the Woodland forest was created only a few millennia after the creation of The Continent, for some still unknown reason. The Halflings that were created with it are still of unknown origin, though it is believed that it may have been Daghda trying to harness a part of Ushnabroc's power that created both the forest and the new race, explaining their contrasted and vivid nature. For the Halflings, the woodland forest became the "Origin forest" that they would never leave again, granting them peaceful and isolated lives, free from worries of the world of men, though some adventurous ones did venture out into the outer worlds, bringing back stories and new technologies with them.
As for the High Elves that inhabit the Western parts of the forest, those were in fact voluntary exiles from the bed of all elves the Elven Forest, seeing themselves as "nobility" among their kind and wishing to create a united elven kingdom. In time, they slowly evolved into a different, more refined subrace, building their beautiful palaces and villages in valleys and on riverbanks.
In the main, the Woodland Forest seems to be one of the most peaceful places on The Continent, with more or less welcoming inhabitants who have stayed outside of the main conflicts. However, as a great threat arises, they to wish to protect their life.

Geography
The Woodland forest has two distinct zones with different vegetation, though they both have more or less hilly terrain. With more canyons, rivers and broadleaf trees in the West, while the East is more coniferous, with and open areas and the great Lake Bungo, it offers very varied habitats.
Fauna & Flora
The two different parts of the forest have very distinct flora. With more conifers, water and open areas, the East also has a very special undergrowth that allows special plants to grow that would normally only be found much further north. The many open areas are also often plowed by halflings, growing potatoes and corn, while the rich banks of Lake Bungo allow varied aquatic flora. On the other hand, the western parts of the forest offer a much thicker forest with broadleaf trees and a dense undergrowth. These many trees are only separated by the many canyons and riverbeds with the more temperate climate making much bigger fauna like flowers and fungi grow.
Though both zones do house varied fauna and monsters, a lot of these species cross between regions, adapted to both environments. Furthermore, the peaceful nature of the forest also reflects on its less dense monster population, at least in inhabited areas, though there are many ruins of ancient high elven civilization, with gods know what inside... Though the woodland forest is not plagued by "the infection" like the Elven Forest, its center, the border between the two regions has seen an exponential rise in spiderlike creatures.

Natural Resources
The woodland forest offers fertile land, a calm atmosphere with little dangers, and some of the best mineral water sources on The Continent. However, after centuries of living in it, it might seem a little samey. It also is the main part of the continent that offers passage to the fey wild. It is said that travelers losing themselves int the thick forest will periodically blink between plains without noticing anything except the change in vegetation, some being even stranded forever in this realm of tricks and wonders. As such it is always warned to the children of the forest to never stray from the paths as long as they have not learned the ways of the forest.
