Eoth has two moons.
Luna
Luna, or the "yellow moon" has an equatorial orbit of approximately 27 days. It appears slightly yellowish. The same side of the moon always faces Eoth. A full Luna moon is associated with lycanthropy and mysticism.
Somnius
Somnius, or the "violet moon" has a polar orbit of approximately 24 days. It has somewhat of a violet tinge, and is a bit smaller than Luna. Somnius does not rotate, and so different sides of the moon are visible at different points in the orbit, and at different times of the year. It's orbital orientation makes it a natural choice for defining the calendar, which has 24 day months, and 15 months during the 360 day year. Somnius provides about half the luminous intensity of Luna. A full Somnius moon is associated with wisdom and blessings.
Conjunction
Every 8 months Luna and Somnius appear close to each other in the night sky, and always on the first day of a month. Somnius is always a half moon when it crosses the equator.
