Rarely has any region of Eoth been at peace for more than a generation. Perhaps it's just part of the humanoid psyche to seek conflict, or perhaps there is a bigger force at work.
There are places - at the boundaries of civilization - where simple folk can live in harmony, far from the conflicts of Kings and conquerors, warlords and vanquishers.
But of late there has been a certain scent in the air - like smoke upon the wind - that makes one look around, sensing for something that is not quite right.
Could the times be changing? Those who seek omens always find them... but are they right?
Well, some matters are best left to the princes and emperors, while we simple folk continue to live as we always have. Or so it's nice to think...
