Tarkesh

Tarkesh is the captial of Gran Kesh. The city's central structure is Wembly Palace, royal seat of Queen Argoanna . The city is situated within the arms of the Bruin River, on Himmering Hill. It is surrounded on the North, West, and South by 800 feet of water. From the riverbank to the wall, the ground gently slopes up, providing an embankment that varies from 50 fetter to 150 feet in width. Several docks populated the bank, mostly to the north and south. These serve the trade to the north (where the river is navigable for some distance), and allows land caravans to ferry the goods across. Goods are winched up and down the walls using large cranes. The cranes can be quickly dismantled in the event of an attack. A causeway to the east of the city is the only land route. It has 50 foot walls, that extend an additional 20 feet below ground (and below the river water level) to deter sappers.
