Dessa

Little is known of the wonders of Ziti-Orna. An old and ancient empire rules from time immemorial by the god King Hematti, it has stood the test of time and as seen fit to let Westreach fight amongst itself. Traverlers are welcomed but few stay long enough to understand this exotic place. I have seen the golden pyramids and the alabaster obalisks. I have seen the hanging gardens whose beauty rivals that of the the goddess Fortuna herself. I have seen the might warriors astride their impressive war hippos, their armor seemingly made from polished ivory. And yet, I know very little about this strange place.

Demographics

Despite its vast size very few actually live in the city of Dessa. Most laymen and merchants actually live outside of the city in the surrounding countryside. The population of Dessa proper is only around 30,000 people but if the surrounding settlements along the Nahir are included this number jumps up to 500,000.

Racial Demographics

As Dessa is the capital city of Ziti-orna and lies directly on the coast a traveler can easily find any of the sentient races in Eorde. However a strong majority in the city are human or Mountain Elves Unlike Westreach There are not nearly as many Sea Elves or Coastal Dwarves.

Economic Demographics

The actual city of Dessa is almost 90% connected with the religious caste with the rest being made up from either merchants or officials. The worker castes make their home outside in the surrounding areas. As the capital city there is also a strong presence of the military caste in the city proper.
