Schism of Asturias

Political event

The death of Karl the Great resulted in the schism of Asturias into its Western and Eastern kingdoms, later becoming Aquitaine and Asturias in its present day. The political turmoil and war that ensued meant the two societies had to rebuild much of their former glory over the following three hundred years.
