Raven's Peak

Introduction

Raven's Peak is the spire like mountain that sits on the eastern edges of the Alpine Peak. Despite its name, the mountain is far smaller than its sisters. However one must be warned that it does not make it small by any means. Towering over Crowhaven, it is located beside the harbor of Raven's Square, an economic district of the city.   Connecting the spire and square is a bridge that goes as far as five kilometers. It's building having used the combined forces of human ingenuity and astral magics.   Ever since, the capital has used the mountain as a burial site, retiring the old and overpopulated cemetery on the outskirts of the city.   The mountain was shaped by workmen to have spiral roads that go around the mountain. With tombs being dug into the rock itself, a tunnel network being constructed and maintained to keep the city filled with job opportunities.   At the top of the mountain, lies the great tomb of the Crowhaven lords. It lords over all others to show importance above the other residents of the city.

Purpose / Function

To bury the dead of the city of Crowhaven after the old cemetery on the outskirts of town began to be overcrowded.

Alterations

Through time, the spire was further excavated by digging teams to seek out more space for their dead.

Architecture

While built into the rocky exterior of the mountain, the inner tunnels of Raven's Peak are held up by beams of strong woods from the Glades of Sorrow, their magical properties perfect to keep the stone from crumbling down.

History

Construction

The mountain of Raven's Peak was chosen by the leaders of Crowhaven when the cemetery outside the city began to become too large. Needing the open space for new lands and building projects, the City began to use the large mountain beside it as a specialized locale where they would dig deep into the mountains. A labyrinthian crypt expanding across and deep into the bedrock.   Astrals aided in the constructions. Particularly the Dwarven creatures who had a far better understanding of tunnelling and building in deep places. This led to many great relations between the Humans and Astral communities in Crowhaven.
