The Gilded Path

The Gilded Path is an organization widespread over the continent of Manil. Its main purpose is to attain prosperity through trade and other means. They are a well-known organization due to their global standing. It is common for smaller businesses and individuals to align themselves with The Gilded Path as they strive to maintain a fair price for all. Whilst their primary focus is on the continent of Manil, their influence is felt on the other continents as well to some extend.
Trade and profit is the main concern of the Gilded Path. It is their belief that without trade, the world would come to stagnate and fall into ruin. Whilst this belief is the main reason the organization was formed, it has not prevented anyone to join it with an ulterior motive to this idea. There have been individuals in the past that instead joined the organization to attain more personal wealth. Whilst the organization is not against the notion of attaining personal wealth, it abhorred the extortion that commonly accompanied the people with such a vision.
As trade is the primary concern of the organization, the protection of the trade accompanies it per default. In addition to artisans and merchants supplying and ferrying the organization with their resources, one could also join the company for its protection in the form of a guard. Whilst these guards usually accompany the various merchants of the organization itself, they are also known to be for hire to provide protection to caravans travelling from town to town.
The organization respects those that do not wish to join them and would instead see those people as competition. They do not see competition as a bad thing, but rather as a factor that stimulates the market. They condemn all acts that would disrupt the market from banditry to charity. Everything has a price, and this price has to be paid.
