King Dynves is poisoned in his sickbed under armed guard; suspicion naturally falls to Prince Nysach, Heir to the Throne. With Queen Vivyta's horrifying visions of an evil magicians' curse, an advisor with political ambitions above his station, growing border tensions with a formerly annexed colony, and evidence of corruption in the aristocracy, Prince Nysther is staring down the destruction of the Leriti's dynasty.
But maybe this is the sign from the gods he's been waiting for: it's finally his turn to shape the future and steer the Kingdom of Lleeld in the right direction. Can Nysther clear his brother's name and bring Lleeds back to political stability in time without revealing the magic that would disinherit him?
