The Stewards Organization in Enos | World Anvil

The Stewards

Organized by the first Primex, the Primacy Stewardship of His Grace (more often simply The Stewards or The Stewardship) are charged, at least on the face, with watching over the internal workings of Centurion's complex systems of gears and clockwork. Led by Interim Stewardship Primarch Raylan Caine after Valen Sin's mysterious disappearance, there is more to this enigmatic group than meets the eye.

In Matters Domestic

The Stewards are exceedingly good at maintaining the orderly function of Centurion's workings in their entirety. A veritable army of tinkerers, clockmakers, machinists, inventors, and other creative minds make up the backbone of this service. Known for their raw acumen and attention to detail, these skilled tradesmen are responsible for ensuring Centurion's water, sewer, heating, cooling, and defense systems are ready to go when the need arises.   They also attend to maintenance on all of the Centurion Security's major equipment, ensuring the army that protects the city and greater Grand Alliance is always well-equipped for its job. For this reason, it is not uncommon to see Stewards attached to military detachments, always in their signature blue and black uniforms, complete with three tassels.

In Matters Clandestine

Few members of the public of Enos know the true purpose that some Stewards serve. While most members of the order remain ignorant of this role, some members take on roles as spies, political influencers, and assassins. The Stewardship Primarch is the de facto spymaster for Centurion, and reports directly to the Primex, in addition to holding one of the five seats on the Primex's council (the others being the Defense Primarch, who handles war matters; the People's Primarch, who handles the concerns of government; the State's Primarch, who handles foreign relations; and the Primex himself.)   Stewards charged with these clandestine roles often maintain their day jobs while at home, and are supported by the government with cover stories, false assignments, and other deceptive falsehoods while away on assignment. Most Stewards report to another Steward as a handler, with only the Primex and Stewardship Primarch able to assign new 'work orders.' It is of note that only Master Stewards can give non-clandestine orders to stewards below them. Despite the ordering, a master Wetwork Steward may still be technically 'outranked' by a Master Steward at home who has no idea the secret workings of the organization.
