Mierta (Me-air-tah)

The Hearthkeeper

Mierta is the keeper of the source of divine power,the Divine Flame. When Enone entered her Slumber, she left a source of power for the children she left to caretake her world. This flame is the charge of Mierta. She watches the Flame for signals of the health of the world and to keep it safe from those who would interfere with the Gods or steal power for themselves.
She has failed in this duty only once, when Sidomo snuck into her realm in the depths of the planet and stole some of the Flame for himself. This reduced the power of the other gods and elevated him to godhood of his own will. She still bears a grudge for this against him, and is the only being she has no patience for.
Her followers often keep a hearth burning in their homes or temples, watching the flames for signs from their goddess. They look for meaning where others do not and try to keep to a neutral position. Many orders that promote patience simulate her vigil as part of their training.
