The Feast of Ascension

The Feast of Ascension is an event taking place approximately once every 7 months, revolving around the phenomenon of bright, colourful lights lighting up the Northern Horizon. While this tradition is unique to , almost every culture has some sort of ritual revolving around this unique occurrence.

Execution

This day is an official holiday, with only the most essential professions like guards and doctors being allowed to labour. All throughout the day, consuming food is forbidden in anticipation of the start of the , which will first appear in the early afternoon and last for four to five hours. Only once they fully subsided will the feast start, usually supplied by local temples, lasting deep into the night and early morning
The god followed by the priests themselves is not important as long as they are officially recognized in the Ramerian Pantheon.
The largest of these feasts happen in the spiritual capital of Rameria: , led by the High Priest-King himself, ending in a massive feast that feeds not only all the city's citizens but also the many poor.

Belief

The spiritual background of this event is the belief that the bright lights seen on the far northern horizon are the souls of those that died with a pure soul and are now permitted to join their gods in the eternal beyond.
As such, the entire day is filled with prayers and only once the ascension itself is complete - which signifies that all souls have found their way into heaven - does the feast itself start, in celebration of the gods and rememberance of those that died since the last feast.
