Snektiel

Snektiel is a small logging village located in Grand Vailia, in the forest north of the . While its actual population is rather low, there is a large influx of seasonal workers in the summer, as the settlement serves as a major timber source for the Vailian shipbuilding industry.

Establishment and Early Years

The first evidence for the village of Snektiel stems from 120 when local sources speak of a permanent residence being erected for woodworkers, at that time being a singular large house that provided shelter for the workers. The local innkeeper even claims that what is now the inn - the largest building in the village - is still the very same as the one spoken of in those old documents.
It has stayed little more than a logging camp for the following few hundred years: more buildings were erected to house the steadily increasing flow of seasonal workers, but it wasn't until around 200 that a proper community developed and the camp was first recognized as a village.

Development and Later Years

In the years since then, the village didn't grow a lot in size, however, it did become ever more important economically with the advancement of shipbuilding and the advent of large navies, making it rather prosperous.
Due to snowfall in winter, most of the logging work takes place in spring and summer, when the likelihood of accidents is the lowest, which is also when seasonal workers from all over Vailia move here for multiple months at a time. The lumberjacks living here year-round also follow their trade the entire year, although their output is considerably lower in the colder months.

Recently, it has seen an influx of scholars and military personnel as a huge sinkhole called Hell's Gate appeared not far from it, drawing attention from the local authorities.
