The Rook family started off as a Cadet branch of the Van Tollenaar family nearly a hundred years prior. Theobald now lives as the sole scion of the small line, holding the traditional roles of a small fief and estate inside Dernstadt, and acting as one of the chief courtiers of the Van Tollenaar family.
Theobald is one of those rare men of true learning within the Empire, who has not dedicated himself to the pursuit of the arcane arts or sciences, but instead that of law, history, and the bureaucracy of the state. Instrumental as the Van Tollenaar Seneschal, he had intimate knowledge of all the goings-on within the province.
A graduate of the University in Vyenn, he is a hobbyist historian of the Mechanists, with a keen mind for coin, law, and the true happenings of the region.
