Nero Family

The leading family of Monstreng. Headed by father Wyhen, the family consists of mother Flavinia, eldest daughter Barbatia, eldest son Lars, middle daughter Acilia, and youngest daughter Avita Nero.

Structure

All Nero family members have equal power to each other so long as they are over the age of 13. All current family members serve as pasha to Monstreng until the current parent pair either retire or die. Before then, they must name a successor who will continue on the lineage as pasha while the rest of their children are sent to control various territories around the nation. The child selected to continue the lineage must have lilac eyes, the signature trait of the family.

History

The Nero family has held the crown of Monstreng for as long as anyone can remember- an impressive feat in a world where creatures can live to ten centuries; however, this existence has not always been peaceful. Due to the way power transfers in Monstreng, jealousy is bound to happen as siblings are chosen over others. Several times throughout history, the Nero family has fought itself for the seat of power. The latest incident happened 74 years ago; Caius Pasha was chosen to succeed the title while his siblings, Marcus and Servius, were cast to being dukes. Servius was not content with this and chose to attempt assassinating Caius, though this failed and ultimately led to Servius' execution. Marcus disappeared after this. Wyhen, the current Nero descendant to claim the throne, has three brothers and two sisters: Nonus, Gallus, Manius, Gegania, and Lusia. None of them have attempted to seize the throne and seem content with their claims of territory.
