Session 6, The Bandits and Back Again Report

General Summary

The four scouting characters (Flinair, Jarvis, Tristan, and Sven), having run into the hillside cave at the end of the last session, fought and defeated the two brigands there. The half-orc is killed, and the other surrenders. After being taken into custody the bandit reveals his name is Terren, and he yells out "Berek! Run! Flee!" for which Tristan punches him into silence.
Terren seems a bit simple minded, slow on the uptake and prone to suggestion. He reveals that the half-orc was his boss, and that he had been addressed simply as "Big Boss". The Boss met with someone once a week to send off the loot and plunder, someone the others weren't allowed to get close enough to to make out. Terren does reveal that the bandits had a crude raft they used to cross the river to go to Biford once a week.
The group used the raft to cross the river with some of the stolen goods, leaving many of them behind. They made their way to Biford, with a stop for lunch at the Tipsy Miner. Reapichirp was healing himself and others this whole time. In Biford the group stopped at Halby's Goods, who bought the plunder from the bandits and sold a couple of suits of studded leather to Tristan and Sven. He also pointed out that the greataxe they took from the half-orc brigand leader was something only spoken about, but almost never seen, supposedly a weapon used ages ago when orcs ruled over more lands.   From there the group went on to the Burrowfort and turned their prisoner over to Guard-lieutenant Spearshield. He accepted the groups request for clemency, instead sentencing Terren to work in the mine for one year. He wrote the group a payment writ they can turn in at Magera for 40sp. He also told them of reports he'd gotten of some bandits on the road to the Western Kingdoms, and of course there were still the reports of families losing livestock and even the occasional person. In addition he mentioned that river boat traders coming down the Northfork River were down by 80% for this time of year.   The group set off to the Ralden's, bringing Jarvis's goats but not their cart. They pass some farms, vineyards, and orchards, some herds of sheep and cattle, and a horse breeders coral. They come to Ralden Valley from above, getting a full view of it, spotting many different crops, people hard at work, and animals, including an owlbear. They report on the missing goods and where they can be found, receiving the thanks of the Ralden Militia Leader and an offer to be put up and supported while they hone their skills and study.   While training and sparring Tristan quickly realized that the armor he purchased was of very poor quality (-2DR, -1 Defense penalty, Init +1, Speed +2). Sven, on the other hand, hit the proverbial jackpot, with his armor turning out to be of pro grade (+1 DR, +1 Defense Bonus).

Rewards Granted

106xp for Tristan, Jarvis, Flinair, and Sven. 79xp for Reapichirp. 40 for Maly   72 additional xp for story (25 from a previous one and 52 from finishing the bandit story piece).   1 fame for finishing the Ralden Goods quest.

Missions/Quests Completed

The group believes there may be connections between the bandits, the orcs, and the yellow roses, due to the number of half-orcs they've seen leading the bandits and the strange massive axe.

Character(s) interacted with

The group purchased and sold good to Halby in Biford. They captured Terren, born and raised in Magera, and saw him sentenced to work in the Burrowfort mines. They reported to GLt Spearshield on what they've been doing and asked to join the next outrider patrol or get an outrider loaned to them to guide them. Asked SGT Vexil of the Burrowfort Outriders to deliver a letter to the Henders near the Bloodflow Ford.
