Soan Creation Myth

Summary

The Soan creation Myth recounts the creation of intelligent life on Endiness by the Meta-God Soa through the Divine Tree. According to the myth, the world was initially empty. To fill it with life, Soa planted a tree whose sole purpose would be to conceive and birth new life.

As the tree grew, so did its fruits and, eventually, the first lifeforms emerged on the continent. At first, Naturalysis happened: the creation of Nature itself and natural creatures. Natural creatures are said to be very simplistic and lacking any autonomous willpower. They are seen as an integral an inseparable part of Nature itself with no conscience to speak of. An example of a natural creature would be the butterfly.

After Naturalysis came Apotheosis. During Apotheosis, the tree created the first autonomous beings - gods - out of pure magical energy. Unfortunately, being incapable of corporeality meant the existed on the plane before disappearing to other planes. Furthermore, the absence of any conscience to speak of meant the gods themselves had only limited autonomy compared to future beings. Following the gods, the Tree created other magical creatures, this time, with minimal corporeality. These beings are collectively named Ethereals.

Following Apotheosis, the Tree furthered his creations, slowly lowering the magical potential in being as to permit corporeality. This era of creation is referred to as Synthesis. Most versions of the myth count the number of creatures created during Synthesis as 107, although some minor religions and cults sometimes cite 103 to 108 as the number. These 108 creatures are said to encompass most intelligent life capable of conscience. The myth itself only specifies a fraction of the created species with different groups dissagreeing on the factual order. The most commonly known order is the Magocratic dogma enforced during the Elven Era.
