Strangelands
Strangeways is a port city on Loch Shield which serves as the defacto capital of the ungoverned zone known unofficially as Strangeland. Both the port and the territory owe their names to the famous Runemarked explorer Count Damien Strange.
The territory serves as a link between the Ironmere and Loch Shield, and its status as a buffer zone between quietly-feuding Dwarf nations has left it free from tariff or taxation by either side. Consequently, a booming transportation industry has sprung up in the territory, with well-maintained toll roads and rail lines cutting overland travel times considerably.
Because neither Throne claims ownership of the territory, this development has been the focus of the guilds led by the Runemarked houses of The Lakelands. There may be no king here, but there certainly are all of the Barons.
