Acaeus Cotaw
Chief Acaeus Cotaw
Acaeus Cotaw was born to the be the chief of the Cotaw Tribe. He was educated from a young age by the best tutors that could be found, specializing in all sorts of affairs, including diplomacy and statecraft. He was granted tutelege from veterans of the imperial political system, as well as by those who have become familiar with local politics in the towns of the Sypi Confederacy. From birth, he was the chosen to succeed his father to the position of chief. When he did in 1010, he was still a young man, only recently married, but he took to his duties with gusto.
As the Confederacy spiraled towards civil war with the death of the last Wicka High Chief, Acaeus decided to not seek out the nomination himself, but instead, chose to participate in the tradition of requesting a delegation to sway him one way or another. The delegation arrived, in time to assist with the mysterious appearance of a wizard's tower in the center of the main Cotaw encampment. This tower had been scaring members of the tribe, and the delegation sent by Quico Bienombe helped to encourage the wizard to leave and restore a semblance of peace to the tribe. With this aid, Acaeus supported the Bienombes in their bid for power.
When the civil war began, Acaeus chose to commit the Cotaw to the support of the Bienombes in the war against the Church of the One Sun and the Sihka Tribe. Unlike other tribal leaders, Acaeus chose to lead from the rear, acting as a close confidant of Quico, and aiding in the administration of regions behind the front lines. He frequently traveled from tribe to tribe and among the towns of the Confederacy, preserving the fragile coalition that existed against the Church. Although he obtained little glory for his role in the war effort, his actions were vital to the victory.
In the years after the war, Acaeus has continued to lead his tribe with wisdom and sound judgement. The friendship between Quico Bienombe and Acaeus has survived the war and the two continue to be close comrades in political affairs throughout the Confederacy.
