Elendiir 20, Cael, 405 AT: The Ghost of Bastion Relaram

One of many excerpts from the Journal of Malanapakola Aohaila, this entry details her and Incaina's struggle against a powerful specter inside of Bastion Relaram, a fallen fortress of Krathum.

Incaina and I pursued the contract we received from the headsman of Relaram. We camped outside of the Bastion last night, then investigated it today. The contract detailed a ghost who had stalked and killed six villagers in the last few days. The villagers were all around the village, not just centered by the Bastion's ruins, so we knew we weren't dealing with an undead bound too tightly to its haunt.
The Bastion loomed over the little village. We woke up late because it shadowed the sun for so long. Just another reminder of Krathum, I guess. Incaina brewed some Hunter's Healing for each of us and we made our way inside as early as we could.
The Bastion stank of defilement, despite being abandoned for nearly a decade. Long-decayed skeletons hung from torture racks and the deanimated corpses of Krathum's undead littered the hallways. Five hours of searching the Bastion revealed no ghost, however.
We discovered the ghost had been watching us during our search. It was a banshee; incorporeal and roaming, it ambushed us as we were leaving the Bastion to plan a new search. It screamed and stunned Incaina immediately. I narrowly locked it down with a consecrated net. Then, I exorcised it and destroyed it. Incaina was dazed, but it was nothing a Hunter's Healing couldn't fix.
We told the villagers of our success and claimed the reward. They asked where they could find more Knights of Iron. They were disappointed when I said we were some of the first.
We left Ralaram behind. Still no sign of Decante. I can't stop wondering if there's way to overcome my Creed of Blood's weakness against bloodless creatures. I asked rhetorically if feeding would increase my power. Incaina shot it down. He tells me he's worried about me.
I worry he doesn't care about what we lost.
