Drymoor
Drymoor is a frontier duchy of eastern Valemont, situated between the fertile heartlands of the kingdom and the harsh lands beyond the Sandy River. Though not among the oldest or most prestigious regions of the realm, its position along several major trade routes has made it one of the kingdom's most important crossroads for commerce, travel, and cultural exchange.
The duchy is defined by rolling farmland, scattered woodlands, and the waters of the Sandy River, which form much of its eastern border. Generations of farmers, merchants, craftsmen, and laborers have transformed the region into a prosperous center of agriculture and trade. Caravans traveling between Valemont and distant lands frequently pass through Drymoor, bringing both wealth and foreign influence to its settlements.
The capital town of Celna serves as the administrative and economic heart of the duchy. From his seat across the small river in the ducal keep, Duke Paul Cellars governs the region in service to the Crown of Valemont. While respected by most of his subjects, the Cellars family remains a relatively young noble house, having risen to prominence only a few generations ago. Their elevation marked a significant turning point in the duchy's history and established a new era of growth and prosperity throughout the region.
Life in Drymoor is shaped by opportunity and hard work. Merchants seek fortune along its roads, farmers cultivate its fertile fields, and travelers from across the continent find welcome within its walls. Though distant from the royal capital, the duchy plays a vital role in connecting Valemont to the wider world.
To the people of Valemont, Drymoor is often seen as the kingdom's eastern gateway; a land where trade flourishes, cultures meet, and the frontier begins.
