Mind Burn

Mind Burn is a rare condition that is displayed upon birth. All known cases have been restricted only to human women, although there are stories of men or other races being born with the condition. Thought to be a magical curse or even a type of Blight, individuals born with mind burn have reduced lifespans that typically end in violence or brain death by the age of 30.
Those born with this condition are born blind with only the white of their eyes visible. While blind, those born with this condition appear to be no different than healthy children of their age, however by the time they reach the age of adulthood they begin to experience crippiling visions, leading to the more common name of Seers or Oracles. Most often these visions are nothing more than confused images or flashes of light. However as time goes on these visions begin to become more life like, showing Seers things that they could never have seen before. Sometimes showing events yet to come or event events that have already transpired even without the Seer being there.
While there are stories of Seers being able to control these visions, most slowly decend into maddness with episode they experience. Many afflicted by this condition end up killing themselves by the time they reach thirty years of age. Those who manage to live can only do so under the care of another. For eventually all Seers fall into a coma, mind burned out from all that they have seen.
