The Anak Sea Raiders is the generalized name for the various tribal groups of
Anak sea raiders that have plagued the
Aris Sea for several centuries in various incarnations. Recently, since their defeat at the Battle of Demyros in 1192 AR, they have splintered into a number of sub-factions and have not posed a threat for quite some time.
History
While for the majority of their history the Anak were never well enough organized to pose much of a threat, it was around 1150 AR that a series of talented leaders managed to organize the numerous disparate groups into one centralized clan. It was during the leadership of the
Anak King Urak Il-Ka that the Sea Raiders experienced the peak of their power. Through his leadership, the Sea Raiders launched a series of raids that plagued most city-states across the
Aris Sea. They even managed to capture several of the
Māraroan Kingdom's lead shipwrights and forced them to design a uniquely nimble ship that could easily outrun, out maneuver, and even capture many of the more powerful nation's patrol vessels. After amassing significant strength, Urak Il-Ka captured several island city-states before launching an attack on the nation of Calyria where they managed to capture its capital city of
Demyros in only 13 days after landing on its shores.
Over the course of about one year, the Anak managed to push all the way into Samonia after capturing nearly half of the island of
New Elysium before they were finally met with a defensive force strong enough to push them back. Under the leadership of the
Arcadian Voula Arvanitoti, the New Arcadians waged what quickly became an offensive war against the Anak, pushing them all the way back to Calyria after only 7 months. For nearly eight months the Arcadians laid siege against the captured city of
Demyros before the then General
Cronus Kollias led an offensive push on the city, managing to break its defenses and defeat its captors. It was Cronus Kollias who managed to slay the Anak King Urak Il-Ka and thus put an end to the near reign of Anak Sea Raiders.
Since their defeat the Anak Sea Raiders splintered off into a number of sub-factions and have not posed much of a threat in the years since.
