Alkquan
Children of the Elements
The Alkquan are the progeny of the now slumbering primordials of the land. Having no home to call their own, the Elturian Kingdom sent them to the edge of the Wilderlands to help stem the tide of the Lycans and hopefully create a home for themselves in the Wild Frontier. Some Alkquan respect the Queen's decisions, since the Alkquan are resistant to the Lycan curse it only makes sense for them to be sent to deal with the threat. However, there are some within their people that feel used.
Children of the Land
The Alkquan were the first mortals to walk the land according to their legends. They were created directly from the elemental primordials of Elturia, each resembling one of the primary elements of Elturia: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. The earth born are known as the Jord, while Luft are of the air. The fire kin are known as the Igna, and the water born are known as the Vann. The Alkquan each have some minor control over the heritage element, many choosing vocations that allow them a way to be closer to their element. Choosing to become druids to understand the nuiances of nature, while others seek to wield the raw elemental power of the mage. Though all of the Alkquan people venerate Elturia as the Mother of Life, they are a people as varied as the elements themselves.Survivors of Catastrophy
Just after the Dawn War, the Alkquan gathered together to create a city of their own. A place to call home, and to venerate the primordials that had given themselves in defense of the land. They named their home, Samverstaed, or a coming together. Samverstaed flourished for a few decades, becoming one of the first large settlements before the founding of Aldhon. They traded with the local villages and outlying towns. That is until Godreki's and Slaemdreki's rivalry came to a head.
The two dragon aspects battled across the sky raining fire down onto the land. The people of Samverstaed did their best to escape the destruction, but many were lost. The true tragedy came as Slaemdreki drove her brother from the sky and into the city below. The impact utterly destroyed the city and nearly all of its inhabitants. The only remnants of the city was the temple at its center, that now peaks out of the center of a lake that resulted from the crater of Godreki's impact. That place is known now as Lake Yrun.
In recent times, the Alkquan people still search for a home in a region that seems to have no room for them. The last Queen sent them to the edge of the Wilderlands to help tame the Lycan curse that ravages the edge of the kingdom, and the current Queen seems content to leave them to that duty. While most Alkquan hold their ground at the frontier, hoping to push the beasts far enough back to establish a home of their own, many of them have started to make their way back inland in order to reintigrate with the people there. However, many don't tread in Aldhon since they fear the scorn they might recieve for not staying at the frontier. To be Alkquan is to live with the strange dichotomy of being tied directly to the land by heritage, but not being able to find a true home in it yet.
