History
The Northern Rim Kingdoms are comprised of two distinct kingdoms; the smaller Hristeinn to the West, and Jorundardalr, comprising of the central and Eastern lands of the civilized North. Once a united, peaceful realm, the death of [King Alrik Frostbane the Kingdom split in twain. Alrik left behind three sons, Gunnulf, Brodrir, and Alvur. While Alvur the youngest did not agree with most of the eldest brother's decisions and policy, he was appeased by being appointed Hoddjarl, or master of currency for the Kingdom. However, Brodrir was not satisfied with his brother Gunnulf's ascendancy to the throne, and could not be persuaded to support his brother's claim to the throne with any lesser titles or hold-fasts. Thus, Brodrir rebelled against the throne and created the Kingdom of Hristeinn to the West.
At this point in the campaign, it has been four generations since Brodrir's rebellion, with Hristeinn defending their independence primarily through their control of naval trade entering the Northern Kingdoms through The Bay of Verlita. The Council has officially recognized Hristeinn as its own sovereign Kingdom, though at times there are still tensions between the once united lands of the North.
